Question Do you ever defer receiving affiliate payments to minimize bank processing fees?

As affiliates, we all want to be paid promptly each and every month, and we also don't want to pay any more than we absolutely need need to in bank processing fees. Sometimes these two objectives can be in conflict with one another.

If, for example, you are paid by bank wire, you might need to pay a bank wire fee on the order of 20 GBP for each payment you receive that way. If your earnings in a given month from a program are 100 GBP, then you might want to wait until your earning built up a bit more before getting paid to minimize how much of your earning are chewed up in bank fees. Sometimes bank fees include additional fees charged by affiliate programs as well, particularly if there are multiple methods to accept affiliate payments, and some have charges added on by the affiliate program when they are used.

How about you? Do you always want to be paid as soon as possible, or do you sometimes deliberately defer when you are paid in order to minimize bank fees? Besides voting in the poll, share your general thoughts about bank fees any any strategies you employ to keep them to a minimum.

here's a new poll, do you prefer pointless poll questions each week or do you prefer forum owners who try and make out they are industry integrity leaders to be active in policing sponsors working with hackers, criminals or quite simply bum affiliates?

The most important aspect for me is to get control of my money as soon as possible, so i choose to be paid into Neteller or Skrill, where the aff program limits are lower. I can then choose when to transfer to my Bank Account and the fees that I pay.

I very rarely use Wire because of the costs and the time it takes to get the money. In this day and age there is no reason why money transfers cannot be instant.

I've never deferred receiving affiliate payments. Too many affiliates over the years lost their money when affiliate programs closed down without notice, taking whatever money they could with them. Affactive is one example.

I might have changed it from bank wire to skrill if there's a higher, minimum threshold on say bank wires, but I don't put them off. As many ppl have said in this thread, it's best to take it as swift as possible as you never really know it'll be there the next payment cycle

I actually do that from time to time.

The problem is that some still send you per month wires. Once I did that with 1 program only to receive 5 wires for total amount of $200.

Me too, but this shouldn't happen. Does anyone know if there is a law for this? The regulation is so tight, there should be. I'm really interested in this subject.

I have always been surprised when affiliates set their payment threshold higher than the minimum. I have even contacted affiliates and asked them if it was intentional. I put increased payment in the deferred payment category. In most cases I like to minimize transaction fees, but like everyone here has said, that can be dangerous.

Very good question actually... I voted "Yes, I infrequently defer receiving payments to minimize bank processing fees."

Because it's sometimes in special cases (with specific brands which I trust) it's better to delay, for example if the only option is wire and I know that the fee is 30-50% of the actual payment

But in most cases I do not delay because you'll never know what will happen and better to get something then nothing
