Question Do you have a legal notice footer on the pages of your websites?

Earlier this week I made a post about a change to the legal notice provided on some sites I'm responsible for in the following thread: Online Gaming Portal Legal Disclaimers.

This prompted me to asking about the legal notices webmasters provide on the bottom of their web pages as my weekly question this week. Starting with the most basic question of all: Do you have a legal notice of any sort on your web pages?

Beyond that, I think it makes sense to share with each other what sort of information we include in such legal notices. A copyright notice? A link to a privacy policy or a terms of use policy? A notice about the player being responsible for determining if it is legal for them to play?

Be sure to post the factors that lead to your decisions about what to include, and share the advise of any attorneys you have spoken with.

    No legal notice here.

I've never heard of an internet affiliate being prosecuted because of the lack of a legal notice.

I don't believe that it a few lines at the bottom of pages provides you any cover at all if you are engaged in an activity that is illegal in your place of residence.

A few years back, I met an AM during a conference who suggested I should include a legal notice, not the least because many affiliate programs feel more comfortable to deal with affiliates who have disclaimers having warnings against gambling etc. However, I am not sure whether affiliate programs really care for such details during or after acquiring affiliates.

Would that cover a webmaster then rather than placing a whole new page on Privacy etc...I have heard that pages as such does help with google trust, maybe wrong.

In answer to the poll my answer is not yet.

The grey zone that is internet privacy.. but I guess having some sort of a privacy policy is better than not having one.

Unfortunately i did not placed legal notice to footer so far, i don't think google cares too much about that, just sees it as another page. Anyway i could be wrong, and in my next site i will include a legal notice too.

I've a basic legal notice at the footer of the front page at Doolallys.com saying that gambling might not be legal in their area and that they responsible for determining if gambling is legal for themselves.

I've also a no under 18's graphic in the header and a link to gambleaware.co.uk on each page. To be honest, these were purely added for the benefit of Google's Adsense.

I think having these notices is almost crucial to the safety of a website would you agree? Although when you think about it do you enter a casino and see a sing warning you about the risks associated with gambling?

Well, most of the casinos have a section on Responsible Gambling and also a link to organizations like Gambler Anonymous.

I have a link that directs to a page where users must determine if gambling is legal in their area. Really not sure if its needed, but I also have a link to GA in there as well.
