I will fire up some music if Iam washing the dishes or cleaning the house. When working on the computer or my sites I usually like things quiet. Ive been listening to reggae alot lately.

When I am at my "real" job I listen to the radio most of the time (I would be inzane by now if I didn't). When I am working at my sites and new projects it really depends on the type of work im doing. When im fiddling with the design and graphics I always listen to music, but when im concentrating and writing articles and such I prefer the sweet music of complete silence..

Its not very often we'll have music on in the Dublinbet marketing office We're on Skype quite a lot everyday so it's not ideal having music on and off all day.

However we are prone to a bit of Chesney Hawkes on a Friday afternoon to celebrate the weekend. Now where did I put my iPod?

I can't stand it if it's too quiet. I NEED my portishead or massive attack or air or anything soft, mellow and jazzy. My friends love to tease me saying that i listen to 'happy hours' music hahaa

It surprise me how some people can listen to really loud music and work. By some people i meant my boyfriend as gosh he could actually listen to system of a down and work at the same time. That's just too much, too loud and too angry. Thank god he doesn't hang out in this forum i get to bitch about it. We made a deal though. I get to play my music on the stereo and his on his earphones lol

I must say System of a Down isn't that bad of a choice, just depends on the mood of the day! But I do understand how you could lose concentration on loud music like that!

    Ahhh, Massive Attack ...

I specially like "I Against I", the more so since they used it in the Blade II movie. Did I ever mention I was a vampire freak?

Exactly. I don't mind System of a Down at all. I like a couple of their songs actually. But while working?? :S I just don't get it. And even with the earphones, i could still hear the blasting music aaargh and i'm looking at him and he's all concentrated on his work. I'm just truly amazed how he does it.

I can only listen to music if I'm working on something very repetitive or mundane, otherwise I need the quiet to concentrate. I love having a bit of music especially if I'm tired, but if I'm honest I work faster and more accurately without it!

Personally, I always try to listen to music while I work, I've tried listening to all genres but I end up getting too distracted and I have to switch it off after 5-10 minutes. Even in the past when working on assignments for school/uni, it was exactly the same thing.

The whole Crazy Rewards office works with earphones and kicks back and watches You Tube videos at lunch time though...they seem to work better with music at least I'm just boring working in silence....lol

I found it distracting at first, mixing my own thoughts with the lyrics and stuff but after a while I got used to it. Makes work much more pleasant to be honest. Occasionally if it's something that requires more concentration and focus than usual I will turn it off.

And has anyone ever noticed how after some time you can get so used to working with music that you blank it out unconsciously? Like, at one point you hear one of your favorite songs coming up and make a mental note to sit down an enjoy it but then realise that the song has played through and you didn't really hear a word.
