You're correct solar panels do currently have those nasty chemicals in them but a responsible recycling program can be developed to minimise the damage they may cause to the environment.

Good old gas ain't as clean as you keep pretending it to be. How does one undo the damage that fracking causes?

Even though fracking has the potential to provide more oil and gas resources to consumers, the process of extraction has long-lasting negative impacts on the surrounding environment. Air pollution and water contamination due to the toxic chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing are the greatest concerns within fracking sites, while the need for wastewater disposal and shrinking water supplies are also pressing issues directly related to the procedure. - https://www.investopedia.com/ask/ans...nvironment.asp

Seems like that was a local outage. We haven't had load shedding for more than two months now. I'm not saying that it won't return as South Africa has an ageing fleet of power stations and the ANC led government only woke up when it was almost too late. This is what happens when a populist president is elected, the country goes to crap. Unfortunately we had eight years of this imbecile in power, and he pretty much almost destroyed South Africa.

Seems you guys have been spared from the ruinous results of another four years of a populist leader.

Talking about gas, not natural gas from fracking. Lets not even talk about the production and discarding of windmills, until fairy dust is real this feel good stuff just doesn't help

Starting to think about a new car lately and electric/hybrid are certainly options I am exploring.

Waiting to see what the new BMW X3 electric/hybrid is going to be like. There are some excellent government rebates available which makes it more affordable.

I don't plan to get one in the future, as in my country there are no opportunities to have the electric vehicle. And the government don't give any benefits to persons who have them.

Based on your locations and context I suspect you two are talking about two different kinds of gas... Natural Gas v Gasoline.

Not to mention the environmental impact of lithium mining.

I bought a petrol car in 2020, so I have no plans to buy an electric car.

Even if I buy it, I think it will be more than 10 years away.

No, I don't have one. I might consider getting one when I'm older. The good thing about them is their low maintenance needs, as opposed to normal motor vehicles that require frequent oil changes, etc.
