Does anyone know of anyone who REALLY makes good money from SPORTSBOOK affiliate programs.

Like say, at least $1000 a month?

I am just curious as to this happens. Because you always read at the affiliate signup pages "we have affiliates who make $10,000 a month or more!"

But is this just a marketing ploy that Sportsbooks use to get new affiliates to blow lotsa money on advertising?

    OK,
So this message board is not just a big conspiracy trying to make naive webmasters feel OK about promoting sportsbooks?

I have chosen to promote Intertops, VIPsports and Bet365.
    I'm gonna run with them.
Do you guys think I'll get paid OK?

OK, I'll stop nagging and go pop a couple Prozacs

   Nope, not a conspiracy to "suck people in" - there's no benefit for us to do that anyway! I don't do sportsbooks, so I can't tell you what they make, but I know we have some webmasters here in sportsbooks that do it as their sole source of income, and have for a few years now.

Pass the Prozac, please, tho.... :-?

    Thanks, nice lady.
Well, that's the thing, I guess when Sportsbook affiliates start making big money, they stop posting on the message boards.

I guess they don't want to slip, and spill the beans on how they became successful.
But that's OK, I know I am on the right track as far as promotion.

I just seem to remain nervous and skeptical until I get my first paycheck from a new affiliate.

    Hello Daweller,

Here's the scoop. The affiliate programs are not as easy as the casinos and sportsbooks make them out to be. Affiliates are the most effective and cost efficient source of advertising for the casinos and sportsbooks so they tend to present the shiny side of things. There is a lot to learn and many different skills to apply (technical, marketing, business, etc.) to do well.

Like everything in life, there is no hidden treasure map and what you make is usually proportionate to the work you put in. $1,000 per month is a reasonable number. $10,000 per month is more the exception, but reasonable with time. The best reason to do this is the enjoyment of building websites. It's kind of cool to create something from nothing and watch it grow.

As far as your sportsbooks, I have no opinion on Bet365. I trust Intertops, and I trust Simon, the guy now running VIP's affiliate program.

    How true, oh wise one.

I should just be happy that I am doing something I love.
And I am making SOME cash.
    Just gotta be patient.
It just gets me down when I try a new affiliate program, and I make money, but then never get a check because I chose a corrupt Sportbook/Casino to promote.

But thanks to this board's advice, and the advice of watchdog sites, I am learning which gaming sites to spend my limited ad money on.

Cheers... go Mavs! (oh shoot were they just eliminated?)

ps. I could live off $1000 US/month as long as the CDN dollar stays weak or get weaker... Go USA

Nope, there's some pretty big affiliates in the GPWA. Mainly with casinos, but a few with sports.

Even if you can live off $1,000/month it's damn hard work. You'll always have a month or 2 below average and that's when living of a small aff income really hurts - believe me, I've been there.

When I quite my job my site was only bringing in a borderline poverty income. It was only the support and faith of a great wife that allowed me to continue - and short-term loans to cover those bad months.

I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel (some may say I'm stood in direct sunlight ) and it's been well worth the hardship I've taken my family through.

I would highly recommend joining the GPWA, you'll learn a lot - and while waiting you should post your URL so you can get some advice straight away.

My best wishes in your venture

No, they were not eliminated. Last night they out-scored San Antonio 29 - 10 in the fourth quarter to come from behind and win. And they did this without their superstar, Dirk Novitzki. San Antonio is up 3 games to 2, with game 6 tomorrow night in Dallas. Go Mavs!!!

Ya just gotta root for Dallas at this point.
    Everyone wrote 'em off.
Steve Nash rules! And he's a Canuck!
    Game 6 oughta be interesting...
    Go Mavs!
