I do not know a lot about Domain Authority and trying to do a little research on it. AS far as our industry, what would say is a high domain authority, medium and low. My website vary by roughly 15 points or so for domain authority. Obviously my main site has the highest which is about 38, as a standard is that considered about middle of road, low? What would you say?
Are you talking about the Moz Domain Authority? There are multiple companies giving authority scores.
Yes the Moz I believe. The same as used here in your public profile. It says it is by MozScape.
To be honest I do not belive in Moz DA anymore.
I have seen a lot of really spammy websites with an almost Xrumer based linkprofile with high DA. Focussing of getting links from pages with a high DA will sooner or later cause a punishment if you do not pay special attention to a lot of other factors.
I prefer majesticsseo's "trustflow" chart.
All of these third party statistics (eg: seomoz) are just guesswork anyway, they don't actually relate to rankings or traffic. You can have a 40+ DA site with bugger all rankings and a 10 DA site that's top 3 for a hollywood term.
When google (ok, Matt Cutts) talk about authority they mean something completely different. From my understanding your site is either an authority on a subject or it isn't - I have no idea how it's worked out though (and apparently I read somewhere that this can be manually added to a site)...
This past year they've also been talking about niche authority - ie: authority within a specific niche. So if you're the dogs bollocks in knitting, your 50 page knitting site with a handful of incoming links may be considered authoritative.
(I stopped caring about PR, DA, and whatever else they come up with a long time ago...)
