Is this as hard as some of the things I've seen online? As tough as our IT guy says it is (he's not the most helpful person in the world, so I feel I need a second opinion)?
If anyone has done this and has any helpful links/tips/etc, I'd be thankful for your help :)
drupal is stable, but u cant use all known modules.
backup your page and upgrade for a test...
...never touch a running system...
Drupal has changed its codebase from using procedural code in versions 6 & 7 to object oriented code in v8. This may or may not matter depending on your installation. If you run only an unmodified core and modules that have been ported to Drupal 8 then it should be a matter of making a backup, downloading all the new modules, upgrading and testing as per the instructions. If your modules have not been ported to version 8 then you have to evaluate whether you need them and either drop them or port them yourself. If you have custom developed modules and code, they will all have to be completely re-written to the new API and coding conventions.
If none of that makes any sense to you, listen to your developer.

Have yet to find a new developer.
Still just working with the patchwork fixes here and there.
Any advice on where to look? Struck out with codeable.io, outreach to half a dozen companies, etc. :(
I do my own coding so no, maybe check the marketplace at drupal.org
