Default Email Database Questions. Can i sell or use?

I bought a website with a large email database. In the millions, these are all opt in for Insurance with age, salary, location and where they opted in. Over 6m Emails.

Now i have never dealt with emails before? Can i email people from this? If not does the list have any Value?

Never used these before, never touched email databases.n

    Any thoughts would be great

You can probably only use this email list with regard to the website you bought. People opted in via this website to receive information with regard to this particular website and products / information on it. You cannot legally sell it to anybody else unless the terms and conditions on the email opt-in form states that emails collected can and will be traded or sold to a third party.

You could email people from that list, but it is spam. A lot of affiliate programs have a no spam policy as it looks bad on their side, so they might end up closing your accounts if there is a complaint.
You could probably sell the list to some Russian hackers.

After 9 years we only have 400,000 signups on our mailing lists ,that must be some monster site you bought. If you bought it with the website ,it is yours and use it.

My guess is that even the list is an actual spam list.

To actually get email addresses of 6 million people for insurance, would pretty much ONLY come from an actual insurance company or an underwriter.

To reach 6 million by any other methods would mean the list is compiled in some other way (spelled: without a real opt-in)

Those emails was extracted using email crawlers but I tell you 90% of those emails are from Honey Pot. They are not real emails at the end of the day the bounce back can cloak your server. The best is to get real subscribers via your website or surveys.

Yeah the same as people say i do not believe you have 10m real facebook likes, or millions of twitter followers.

My monthly adverts budget is 100k+ allows you to build these quickly.

The website in question gets millions of page views a month, so gathering data is easy.

Millions of twitter followers? Gold! Why are you wasting time with email addresses - stone age by comparison?

Show me one of your twitter addresses with 500,000+ followers ...
What do you write about that engages so many people - I am keen to see it !

The gooner. Twitter is nailed, the guys run it perfect. We have a gambling licence on Twitter which helps! But you get to a point where the more you spend the less value you get.

we increased the adverts daily until we reached the max.

but this email database is just sat around, so feeling like its wasted. I like to leave no stone unturned

G8888 - sounds like you have it sorted. Well done.

Post up or PM me a twitter account - don't be shy!
Always keen to see something done well.

(I can't help with email lists - I've never bothered collecting them - social networks seem a far better method of communication)
