Entain launches legal action against former BetEnt owners

The site obtained documents that show Simon Zinger, Director of Entain Holdings Netherlands, is suing for an undisclosed amount of damages.

On June 14, 2022, Entain acquired BetCity , nine months after the Amsterdam-based online casino 's successful launch . Negotiations on the takeover had started some time before.

At the time of the takeover, the sellers signed that they were not aware of any ongoing investigations by the Dutch regulator. It later turned out that several investigations had indeed been initiated into BetCity at that time . Moreover, as Entain later learned, the salespeople were aware of this.

• On April 22, 2022, the Gaming Authority had already informed BetCity about an investigation that it had started into BetCity sending promotional emails to young adults.
• On May 3, 2022, BetCity was also informed by the Gaming Authority that an investigation was underway into shortcomings in the area of ​​the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Act.

Entain, the new owner of the Dutch gambling site , only later found out about the existence of these two ongoing investigations. When the Gaming Authority publishes a news item on November 10, 2022 in which it indicates that it has started an investigation into two unnamed providers, Entain seeks redress from the former owners.
