This is Pointless, as I can see where this is going, and I'm not going to get **** for something I thought was the right thing to do.

Hi Livefree247,
I agree that I wouldn't want any of my friends giving her or anyone my email in a list. But Slotmom is fairly new at being an affiliate and might not realize even, why she shouldn't do that. I haven't seen her in awhile, but she used to come around the forums and was always nice. Have you tried talking to her at all before you posted here?
With all due respect livefree, did you contact her before posting here? Or let her know about this thread?
Slotmom has been to my site along with my partners site, She has always been very honest and sincere.
There is no reason for a public post to be made about something so little as this, Did you try and talk with her directly before slamming her site?
And editing your post out, with a comment that you are wasting your breath isn't very fair after you have made a title like within this thread. Why would you think your wasting your breath if you have a valid point?

Harvesting email addresses is a serious issue.
If a casino or affiliate program did this we would all go ballistic!
What makes this case any different?
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I'm sorry you edited your original post.

I seen that contest and i don't think that it is right for a affiliate to do that. I also seen that another affiliate gave Slotmom her e-mail contacts and i know that i am on that persons contact list. I get enough spam as it is. Slotmom is a very nice lady but i don't know what would prompt her to run this sort of contest. The pokerkeep is right, If a casino or affiliate program did this we would all go ballistic!
Although I do not know slotmom I have to agree with Terry on this one.
Don't know the all details, but this sounds mighty underhanded to me. I agree with Terry.

CANSPAM compliant is not good enough.
The emails are being compiled WITHOUT the recipients permission let alone without their knowledge.
Following good removal p[rocedures isn't enough in my book, since the names are being added to a list WITHOUT opting in to start with.

Hi Robin,
I'm sorry I edited out this post, but I was getting the feeling from the first 2 replies that I was doing something wrong, by posting that a forum owner was running a contest, to the member that could send her the most email Addy's for a cash prize.
I have to let a 58 year old grown women that has been running a forum for over 3 years that this type of contest is wrong?..

Not a problem and it's not your fault that you're allowed to edit a post the next day. I know there was a discussion about it before so thought I'd add some ammo. hehe
Has she been made aware of her error and allowed the contest to continue anyway? I know it's not your job, just wondering.
Ahh I got you, so you saying she just asked for the emails, not just an invitation....
In the old days,w hen i used to sell things door to door, we called this "referrals". Still a good way for business, just needs to be refined a bit. I guess I see both points of the story here...as a sales guys, I think good concept, needs a tad clean up. As a user, yeah SPAM is annoying...Maybe she should use a "refer a friend" type program?
PS --> CAN SPAM laws do not require opt in, just that you need to have an opt out, and honor it. Or did it change? Or we just defineing SPAM? Sorry if I am off my game a bit today, long day..
I think it is wrong to aquire emails this way. Folks need to join of their own free will and no one has the right to give out anothers email in a case like this.
I didn't mean for your to edit your post livefree. I was asking if slotmom was aware and if she was also directed to this thread. Or if she is aware and is doing it anyway?
