Google remains the 800 pound gorilla for search engine traffic to most sites. But I've been surprised to see what a major roll other search engines can play in driving traffic to websites.
For the GPWA website, whose traffic is generally from webmasters and others that are fairly Internet savvy, Google dominates with 96% of organic search traffic to the site. Trailing far behind are Yahoo with 1.25%, AOL with 0.80%, Bing with 0.69% and then a whole host of tiny search engines with even smaller contributions.
But for one consumer-oriented online gaming site of ours I looked at, the organic search traffic referrals were very different: Google 52%, Yahoo 24%, Bing 20%, AOL 1.1%, Ask 0.85%
So, I thought it was worth asking what search engine, besides Google, is most important for traffic to your sites? And besides answering the poll question, share how important other search engines are to you, and how that has changed over time.
