    I find especially if I listen to music while I run, I don't run as much as without music. It's almost like the songs make the time seem like I've been running longer than usual and it makes my brain think that I can't run any longer.

    If I listened to music the hot guy in the gym in the morning wouldn't have ever spoken to me!

    It also means now that I have a workout buddy in the gym, and someone to spot me if I need it, so in a way I'm glad I don't listen to music for that reason. They have it pumping in the gym anyway so I'd just be doubling up.

    I have taken this week off weights as it's the end of my 12 week cycle so letting them heal a bit and back into it next week.
    Tomorrow I have a huge workout with Michelle Bridges (one of the biggest loser trainers here in oz) so I'm looking forward to that.

    Let's just say that I am having trouble walking today.
    I will admit, I have not been this sore for a long time. She killed us. It was so good though.

    There were lots of cameras around and I think I was in some photos so I will post them when they are live.
    I also got to have a photo with her with all the other "pirates" (the girls doing my program "lean and strong" call themselves pirates).

    It was an awesome workout. We did lots of cardio stuff (which absolutely killed me since I don't do much cardio these days) and some strength stuff. There was a bit of aerobics style workout and some tabata. Then she killed us with about 50 burpees at the end.

    Such a good workout. It made me so pumped!

    I can totally feel your pain, I did a 1 week kickboxing course with the #1 instructor here & the first 2 days were so bad, couldn't even sit.

    I'm ok today. Did my leg day today that I was supposed to do yesterday.

    Double checked the leg extension machine. 32kg is my PB. Today I did a pyramid set on there.

    12 * 18kg
    10 * 25kg
    8 * 32kg
    12 * 18kg

    KILLED my legs. But loved it. I think I'm going to take a video next time because the muscles in my quads just go nuts when I'm doing it.
    Today I also did the leg press after not doing it for awhile and on 50kg I felt like I could go up another 5kg so next day that I have it I will go up and see how my knee goes. I really should be much higher on it by now but my knee is still not fully recovered. It's a very slow process unfortunately and I'm scared to make it worse

    Started doing some backwards lunges today just to see how the knee would go. It wasn't too bad so will see how it is over the next week. I'm not supposed to be doing lunges but I need to start growing my adductors and apart from deadlifts, lunges are really the only thing I can think of that will help (we don't have an adductor/abductor machine in our gym).

    Sounds awesome! Are you planing to have another 1?
    *What's tabata?
    Tabata is where you do 2 exercises over 4 minutes, 20 seconds on then 10 seconds rest. The first exercise 4 times, then the second exercise 4 times.
    It's pretty intense depending on what you're doing.

    Good on you!

    Have you been taking measurements or anything to see your progress? I wonder how much difference the removal of alcohol has made.

    I have a crazy old neighbor, I think he is possessed by a demon or something. For one moment, he's totally sane, singing & talking to us.
    The next thing you hear is him screaming has hell, cursing & making scary noises like he is fighting the devil. my cute little dog hates him, he barks at him every time he sees him (my dog doesn't bark at people) ....

    The funny thing is that everyone who has lived in that apartment since we moved in has been weird.

    A week after we moved in, the tenants in that place were arrested for cooking meth in their place. And I picked it too. The smell in the hallway was so chemically and there were always weird people coming in and out of there. And after they were arrested they kept coming back and breaking into the place making holes in the walls to get money they stashed in there. They broke in and stole some guy's harley out of the garage, so they they ended up changing all the locks so that the key couldn't be replicated.

    Then a pilot moved in there for what seemed like only 6 months, and he used to make the weirdest noises at all hours of the morning. Like he was always building furniture.

    Now there are the students, who we are pretty sure there are about 30 people living in the apartment because their wardrobe is on their balcony and there are always herds of people there.

    I got home last night at 11.30 and they were still going.

    So as you can imagine, no gym again this morning.
    I am going to try to go tonight at about 9pm. Otherwise I'm just going to have today as my rest day.

    Then there are the people who live next door to us, a bunch of Irish girls and boys, who party like there is no tomorrow too. Although they restrict their parties to the weekends which is ok IMO. However they are singing as loud as they possibly can at 4am and the sound bounces off the building across and straight into our place.

    I need to invest in some earplugs.

    Moving is not really an option for me. My landlord has not put my rent up since I moved in (which is amazing actually since I live down the road from the city in a very expensive area and my rent is hell cheap) and my apartment is awesome. We have been here a few years. The only way I will move is if I buy something.

    The people in that apartment are renting, so I will just complain to strata until they stop if they keep it up. Either that or they will get booted for having 30 people living in an apartment that is only supposed to be 3.

    Back to the thread.

    Leg day again today.

    50kg squats felt really good so I'm upping the weight next week. Hopefully my knee can handle it.
    Did a pyramid set on the hamstring curl machine:

    12 * 32kg
    10 * 39kg
    8 * 45kg
    12 * 32kg

    I stood up and bent over my toes straight after and my hammies were BURNING! I almost shed a tear LOL

    Next I did a pyramid set on steps. Was a bit lazy on those today with the weights - couldn't be bothered going over to the big boy dbs.
    12 * 6kg
    10 * 8kg
    8 * 10kg
    12 * 6kg

    A compound set of hamstring curls on a fitball and hip raises on a fitball, 3 sets, 12 reps of each.

    An ab workout with 12 full situps with a 4 second negative, 24 crunch pulses and 15 bent leg scissor crossovers (L + R = 1 rep).

    Then 15 mins on the spin bike followed by a stretch.

    I am feeling ok right now. Will see what my legs feel like tomorrow.
