Hey Guys,
I'd appreciate insight on past experiences here. I know the gambling niche is treated differently in search, so how long has it typically taken you to rank for a particular term you've been going for?
Cheers,

That's like asking how long a blade of grass will live, or how many snowflakes will fall in a season.
IT DEPENDS
....on many external factors, like the country, state or city it is in. (website, content, age, links pointing, social media, etc, etc etc etc etc)
Personally, I have this really strange feeling I will NOT see more snowflakes fall before the fall/winter season of 2015 since I live in central Florida, but ask Michael Corfman the same question and he only need to look out any nearby window.

it def depends but focus on your on page on in the begining and hopefully you will get a nice "new website honey moon boost". IMO with good on page you should be able to get in the top 100 in 6 months, but it can take longer and often does. Most people get frustrated and focus on getting backlinks, I would stay clear of that until you fully understand how the engines work and all the variables.
There was one term which had some big players taking up the top slots, I ranked on par within 3 months.. But that's after 100's of articles and it's consistent to keep the ranking, If you are hoping on adding a "Sign up here" page then just building backlinks like most of the oldskool SEO guys still talk about, Then i doubt it's success... Google likes fresh relevant content for new sites
It depends on 1000+ factors.
How old is the domain?
Does it have strong, solid links?
What are the anchor text of the links?
What search terms are you hoping to rank for? How competitive is it?
Are you trying to rank in Google, Bing, Yahoo, Baidu, Yandex?

Also depends if you're talking about adding content to an existing, trusted domain that's targeting a new keyword or building a new site from scratch. Far fewer short-cuts nowadays from what I've seen if it's the latter, if you attempt to pedal too quickly then SERPs oblivion awaits.
Strengthening existing, authoritative sites and building associated content to tackle new keywords seems to be working better for me personally but I expect it also depends on your specific niche.
I think 2-3 months and you can start to see some decent rankings for long tail and gradually build up your bigger keywords over 6 months. Of course there's always black hat....
How do you define "rank" this would be my first question. Are we talking about page 1 or position 1 to 3, so this is a different thing. It also depends on the term itself and how much competitors are in this specific niche but from my experience I would at least calculate with several months. It depends on the value of the domain, on the content and how much content you add on a regular basis. There are many factors but with a lot of work it will still take months IMO.
usually 3-4 months. But i have seen sites ranking shorter times too.
I also saw some new sites rank immediately on decent positions but this is not a general thing. 3-4 months seems to be realistic.
Not possible to give an exact answer. As said, it depends too many factors. Do you want to rank top3 for "casino" or do you want to rank top20 for "the best real time gaming slot in 2015"?
I think in most cases you start ranking immediately after launching a website and 1-2 months later your rankings will go down and especially in gambling niche it can take months to come back in the serps. This is when the challenge begins. And at this point many webmasters give up or lose their patience and start spamming

Simply put, you should rank within six months. No matter what you are ranking for, if you haven't done it in six months, then re-think. JMO
Which eventually (quite possibly) will make sure your site(s) will die prematurely.. Although I have been told that some of the big brands use 'black hat consultants' to rank for keywords like 'online casino' and other top terms. And, they pay top dollar for that too, so it has been said..
Unless you can pay top dollar, I would not risk your sites by using black hat techniques (you think might work) without explicitly knowing what it is you are doing. Personally, I would strongly recommend to not ever use black hat. Go for quality. Aim to please your (to be) visitors. It is my belief that quality becomes the best quantity .. in time.

Yeah, as mentioned above its far too complicated to put your finger on, there are simply too many factors, SEO is not a cookie cutter solution to obtain more visitors or exposure.
Currently dipping my toe back in the water with my pet project site, Vegan Chocolate.
2 to six months on average. My portfolio isn't big enough to give a definitive statistics though.
I will based on the updates. Since our casino site got affected by the major updates google made last last year probably, it took us almost a year before we finally get back to our position. From page 1 dropped to page 5, our site position was stuck there for almost a year. And then, we got it back on around October of 2014. Therefore, it depends.
