Default Facebook launches new fantasy sports games

Facebook announced it has partnered with Whistle Sports and has launched a daily sports prediction game called “Pick & Play Sports." There are also games that go beyond traditional fantasy sports that are based on popular TV shows like ’ “Survivor" and “The Bachelorette."

Offered on iOS and Android, the platform will be available in the U.S. and Canada. North America was the largest region in the fantasy sports market in 2020.

    From Facebook:

Facebook Fantasy Games are free, simple prediction games that help fans enjoy sports, TV shows and pop culture content together. These games bring the social fun of traditional fantasy sports to simpler formats that are easy to play for people new to prediction games, while still engaging enough for more seasoned players.

Currently, Facebook does not allow online gambling advertisements in its terms and conditions.
With this news, if these restrictions are removed, the online gambling industry will become more active!

My guess is they will become more restrictive.

I see the day when they will only allow certain operators to run ads, and they promote only them and their own products.

I believe that Facebook will become more prohibitive in the foreseeable future, considering the action that they've taken so far opposing gambling related accounts.

    Absolutely!

Just like the US market. First throw out/prohibit everyone you can, then take it over for yourself.

That's right, gambling ads on Facebook are allowed in countries where online gambling is legal. Basically, it makes sense, but the tendency is not very promising..

Facebook has been taking a stance that does not favor gambling relationships, and we think it will continue to be tough for them.

Facebook eliminated crypto ads and took down pages promoting crypto.
A year later Facebook announced it would make Libra, it's own crypto currency.
Regulators have stopped Facebook so far but it is a pattern.
Before Facebook gets involved in an area it eliminates the competition but gets to keep all customer data.

There is forgotten and abandoned economic theory from Joseph Schumpeter, which is totally simple, but explaining more than anything else. It is out of keynesian/right wing dilemma.

His theory is simply that each entrepreneur is trying to get the monopolistic power. Because only the monopolistic power brings profits.

The tech giants, but even small affiliates, prove this is correct. There is nothing sweeter than to occupy certain niche and keep everyone else at distance. This is how the real money is always made.

I am far from saying someone has to stop them or not. But it is hard to blame the big companies for what they do. Any manager who is in the position must act as they do. The ones that were less evil were simply phased out exactly by those unscrupulous companies. It is and must be a race to the bottom, unless heave regulation steps in. But the regulation causes just other disasters.
