Default A few questions that maybe you guys can help me with

    Hi,

I have a few questions as trying to decide which path to take with my site and just can't make the right decision.

    1. Should I make a site that is general for a language or go after 1 target geo? Take into consideration tat I may make another site in the future as well so it would be for a first site.

    2. Should I avoid going into Australia or the US?

    3. I am very confused on what is happening with the UK market, it seems that it is a dire situation to go into the market as an affiliate? Mark me if I am incorrect but would it be a market to enter as an affiliate if only pushing non-regulated brands?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks,

    oldschool

Don't believe there's enough info to go on to really answer these adequately, but still some of this might help make a start......

    1. Should I make a site that is general for a language or go after 1 target geo? Take into consideration tat I may make another site in the future as well so it would be for a first site. Assuming you mean - for example - an English site targeted at US/Canada/UK/Aus etc as opposed to for example a targeted alternative one country language. I think this depends to an extent on your own local language skills, in tandem with an assumption that you're writing your own content. Personally I wouldn't go anywhere near trying to put up a German site (for example) because I know it would be impossible (without paying a natural German speaker) to do it with any of the real grammatical quality that would be needed

If your 'first' language is not English then you may increase your chances of success by going for that language (depending on the target content, see below)

    2. Should I avoid going into Australia or the US? I'd say this heavily depends on the target subject of your site, and how/whether you could structure it to appeal to/appear in different geo markets

    3. I am very confused on what is happening with the UK market, it seems that it is a dire situation to go into the market as an affiliate? Mark me if I am incorrect but would it be a market to enter as an affiliate if only pushing non-regulated brands? Not my area...but I think the problem with UK is all the rules/regulations around what you can/cant say. Others here will have extensive experience and be able to give a much better/accurate answer.

    Hello!

Thanks for questions. All are very interesting. I want to see thoughts of my colleagues too.

    Mine are below:

    1. Should I make a site that is general for a language or go after 1 target geo? Take into consideration tat I may make another site in the future as well so it would be for a first site.

It really depends on the market. E.g. there are bunch of Spanish/English websites that target different countries. Around the pros you target a few countries, probably can get more traffic and then revenue, and spend less money while promotion it. But from cons: it's difficult to make a research for bonuses (different currencies), difficult to prepare content (terms might be different), higher competition and etc. So in this case I would vote for the target geo. But it's only my opinion.

    2. Should I avoid going into Australia or the US?
Why? Because of the competition? I think no, but most things depend on your budget and efforts you can make. And here I agree with the commenter above.

    3. I am very confused on what is happening with the UK market, it seems that it is a dire situation to go into the market as an affiliate? Mark me if I am incorrect but would it be a market to enter as an affiliate if only pushing non-regulated brands?

I don't work with the UK market but there are lots of brands you can work with and it worth trying, I guess.

Yes it is dire because every regulated sports betting brand there has already ripped affiliates off. Not one is worth promoting because of their t&cs and untrustworthiness. There is nobody with integrity in this market apart from Bet365 and you likely wont get an account with them nowadays. The jumping through regulatory hoops is the least of the problems. Advice: Avoid.

What "non-regulated" brands could you push to the UK? I can't think of any for sports betting that accept UK.

    Hey,

I don't think I would have any good input to questions 2 and 3, but I might have something to say about #1.

Based on my own experience and on what I learned from other affiliates - the narrower you go in terms of your target region, the easier it would be for you to outperform your potential competitors.

If you do decide to tackle the UK market, then prepare yourself for a hell of a lot of extra work and regular panicky changes.

Each of the bookies seem to interpret the latest UKGC edicts differently, so there's inconsintency everywhere. Emails at 5pm on Friday with urgent instructions to change/remove/update KQCs and deals are becoming more and more regular.

I guess on the plus side, fewer and fewer affiliates will bother with the UK market so the competition will dwindle over time, but actually getting anything contructive done can be a challenge.

    Best of luck!
