Five years later
Well I joined this site almost 6 years ago I think and had great success for several months before many personal issues forced me to shutdown all of my portals and I have been out of touch with this business for over 5 years now.
Can anyone give me a quick update on the business as I try to decide whether I should create a new site or not.
Thanks

Welcome back joshman. Wow 5 years! You do have a lot of catching up to do. To much for one post!
You may want to read up some here:

You will want to learn about the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) regulations that passed in the US in 2006.

Unfortunately, 2003 into 2004 was the peak of the industry, imho. There are many, many more choices in affiliate programs and much more diversity now. Very few carryover negatives month to month and I feel much better about the data integrity (lack of shaving). BUT - many casinos no longer accept players from the US and getting paid can be a hassle at times. This has also led the casinos to get a bit stingy, especially for the smaller affiliates.
BUT - you never know where things will go in a year or two... and you have to be in the game already if the market opens back up.

Welcome back. I started 2 years ago. I don't know how it was back then, but I still think it's a viable business now.
I wish I was around when Matt mentioned it was at it's peak. 2003-2004. I've been hearing similiar statements from other seasoned webmasters.
