Casino-on-Net has done very well for itself. I remember seeing their banners plastered all over the Internet when I first became an affiliate. Who knew they'd be worth $1.6 billion years down the track. Good for them.

I believe they were the first online casino?

I remember when I first started with rewards, a friend of mine told me he played poker online and it was with them.

My first ever online account was with Pacific Poker which was their poker brand back in the day, remember playing via dial-up internet at the time - painfully slow but I loved it

I remember that too. When I entered this industry they were plastered everywhere on Yahoo! and anywhere that accepts banners, albeit gambling related or not. It was a period when most operators make money, then spend it on parties and booze while 888 reinvested their profits towards marketing and advertising to build their brand - and ultimately dominated the market.

I recall talking to an affiliate manager from once about branding, and she just chuckled and said "we don't want branding.. we just want players." Well it's no wonder they never became the juggernaut like their competitor did with such shortsightedness.
