Default forum posting contest, good money

I'm trying to encourage new users to join but I need some posts to make it look like it is active before I start my advertising.

    I am offering:

$40 - Person who does the most posts
$40 - Most valuable poster (interesting topics, ect) (this will be voted on)
$40 - Person who creates the most identities (and posts with them)

I also have other ideas for mystery prizes for posters if we get enough entries.

I encourage and really recommend that you multiple accounts so they do not all come from the same user. Try to spread your posts out in the accounts you create.

Please PM me your usernames so I can keep a record of whos who and in and by January 1st I will paypal everyone the money that has won and list the winners in this thread.

The forum in question deals with online gambling.

The address is http :// gambling - forum.org (remove all spaces, I did this so search engines do not pick this thread up)

Posts with only few words that do not make a good enough presentation of your views to provoke further discussions or do not contribute anything to help the community, and will not be counted.

In the chance that not enough people enter, there is a minimum of 25 posts for the 40$ for most posts.

    Thank you.

Why would you want people to create multiple identities?

That will give the appearance there are more users than there really are. Wouldn't you rather show true and honest numbers?

Weeps, that won't get your board rolling.

I can tell you from experience, getting a good board moving and keeping it that way, is an everyday job for the board owner. It's up to you to get conversations going, to stimulate people to post and keep posting, to market your board and build up the membership.

It is not an easy job with all the boards online these days.

Would you join a forum if there are only a few members? Chances are very slim. I've developed forums in the past and this always helps for a quick user base growth. I'm only doing it initially to get it off the ground and once I start getting actual people posting the threads the old ones created this way will eventually be removed one by one if they are meaningless

I've had experience creating forums in the past too. This is a method that has worked for me. I can't really share more then that as my plans for promotion after there are a few threads already would be best to keep to myself as it usually always works.

    The contest is going well.

If you were to join today you would still have a good chance at all the prizes.

$40 - Person who does the most posts
$40 - Most valuable poster (interesting topics, ect) (this will be voted on)
$40 - Person who creates the most identities (and posts with them)

The person with the most posts only has around 10. Not bad for 40$ if you could beat that (pretty easy to do)

If you don't think you have the time for that you could always just think of one really interesting post and add it for a chance for prize 2 or just create like 10 accounts and post once for each for a chance at prize 3. Good luck everyone.

Good luck weeps, but I agree with the others that this isn't the way to go, with multiple registrations, etc. We actually hold back on the registration numbers growing here by deleting spammers and such. Otherwise, I think we would probably have more than 4000 users by now. I'd rather have 1 registration, with quality posts than one user with multiple regsitrations. Like I said though, best of luck

Yes that does make sense. It's just easier to get signups when it already looks like its active. I'm planning on prunning all these users after I start getting actual posters.

That's cool, and believe me I understand! We'll stop over and visit when we have time! No contest money though!

I run an german erotik forum myself and have to agree with all the other posts here..
that is a full time job... I bought that forum about a year ago... that time it had about 7.500 members... a couple of month later i deleted about 5.000 menbers because they where duplicates and fake accounts...

I myself have allmost no time to run that forum anymore.. i get about 2 member registrations every day, so it's not a lot, the forum itself has about 200 unique visits a day.... but it's not worth the work..
lot's of traffic and almost no advertising rev... I bought that forum only to use it to advertise my sites and casino sites..., but it allmost gets me no revenue...

a competition like you offer is not really a good thing from my point of view... there will be a few guys what have the time to make a lot of posts, just to win the comps, but, that will not make some qualified posts at all...

may some other guys think different.....

    Cheers
