Default Free Game regulation in the UK

Has anyone some detailed information about the free casino game regulation coming to effect in the UK? How does it affect the affiliates?

If you offer free games directly from the provider not connected in any way to a casino with depositing mechanism I don't see how these regulations would affect you, they are directed at casinos offering free games prior to sign-up. A free game site or page would fall under social gaming and so be beyond the scope of these regulations.. is my 100% legally-uninformed personal opinion.

I can see them requiring the free games to have a disclaimer with credit to the operator, but I agree that the burden of compliance itself should be on the operator, provided the games are not just stolen etc and in accordance with the operator's license requirements to use the games.

Stolen games and unauthorized games used without the operator's or software licensee's permission is a big problem, so if these rules help reduce that a bit I think it will help the industry in the long term.

Affiliates are not able to be inline with this rule since there is no way you can complete KYC for your user.. it's simply impossible so it so the best solutions I believe is simply to block demo play option (if you have them on your site) for UK visitors.

But I wonder if the way the old Affiliate Edge used to do their games would be a closer match to compliant.

With theirs, a visitor could play free a few minutes, but shortly after would be required to "sign up" to continue play, even free play.

I have not dug deeply into the regulations, so not sure if the rules are written in such a way as to limit all freeplay to zero without verification, so not sure if that scenario would be acceptable.
