Default Full Contact Poker merges with Poker Stars

    Hey all -

Snooptodd and I confirmed some rumors that FCP is merging with PokerStars. Ina related move, PokerStars signed Daniel Negreanu to an endorsement deal.

FCP will end their poker service tomorrow, allowing its players to transfer their balances to PS.

    Story coming...

    Default story as promised

I think this is a good thing. FCP software is pretty poor, but the players were loyal and strong. Should boost Stars' standing and add some fun events to the site.

Full Contact Poker merges with PokerStars

    June 11, 2007
    by Ryan McLane

Full Contact Poker will shut down its online poker room effective tomorrow and current players will have the opportunity to move their accounts to PokerStars as part of a merger between the two online poker rooms, according to the FCP Web site.

In a separate, but related deal, long-time FCP front-man Daniel Negreanu signed an endorsement deal with PokerStars over the weekend. He joins PokerStars' star-studded team that includes World Series of Poker Main Event champions Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem.

"I've enjoyed a long personal relationship with the folks at PokerStars since the company's founding in 2001 and have always felt as though PokerStars fully understood what players wanted," Negreanu said. "The organization seems like the perfect fit for me and I'm glad they feel the same way."

Former FCP players will be allowed to transfer their balances into PokerStars accounts, per an email sent to FCP players. FCP is no longer allowing deposits or withdrawals, meaning FCP players will need to transfer their balances in order to access their money. All FCP accounts will be closed effective Thursday, June 14.

Current FCP players will be contacted by PokerStars via email with specific instructions on how to transfer their balances or set up a new account.
According to estimates by FCP forum members, 90 percent of the community has an active PokerStars account.

FCP will now exist as a poker community only. The forum, one of the most popular poker-related message boards on the Internet, will continue to feature material from Negreanu, including his written blog, video blog and forum entries.

PokerStars has agreed to continue many events that formed the core of FCP's offerings. Negreanu's Protégé 3, Weekend at Daniel's events and the weekly Negreanu Open will become PokerStars events.

"Daniel embodies what poker and PokerStars are all about: enjoying the excitement and the challenge of poker," Team PokerStars member Barry Greenstein said. "Daniel is a true ambassador of the sport and we welcome him as well as all of his players and fans from Full Contact Poker. We know they will enjoy the PokerStars experience."

I wonder what this will mean for the WSOP qualifiers at Full Tilt. I won a seat at the Main Event 100 seat guarantee on July 17th at FTP...

OH! Full CONTACT Poker!! Is my face red, but -- Phew!

I love Full Tilt, I am so happy I misread that. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

LoL This makes my day, which started out badly on account of my apparent inability to comprehend the written word.

I heard this rumor flying a couple of weeks ago and was hoping that it would turn to be true. I love Daniel *cough* can we say Canadian*cough* but he is an amazing player.

I hope this brings more players to PS, and they start to look ta some of the concepts thatFCP were pursuing. For myself as a poker player I would have a hard time deciding winning first place cash prize in PS's Sunday Millions or being able to sit down and spend 2-3 days with the likes of Daniel or Isabelle.

To have the oppurtunity to learn from the best and than play them. Would swap that over a trip to the WSOP anyday.

Ok now that you al got me excited

I would like to hear that poker stars aff progam has grown up and far exceeding the treatement I first met.

they were total skunks and still leave a bad taste in my mouth but I'm so desparate for some decent poker rooms to promote I'd consider them again if enough people chimed in saying they were all that and a bag of chips.
Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.

This is excellent news that FCP has merged with Poker Stars. I am a avid player at PS, and it is one of my favorite places to play online poker. I look forward to seeing PS grow, and become even better than it was before!
