The European Court of Justice said today that Member States could grant the right for single operators to provide gambling services in the country.
The decision came in two Dutch gaming cases involving Ladbrokes, Betfair and the Dutch state monopoly De Lotto.
From the Financial Times:
A senior legal adviser at the European Court of Justice emphasised again that European Union member states could legitimately grant a single operator the right to run betting and gaming operations. The gaming companies argued that this breached core EU principles on freedom of movement.
