Not helpful when the media reports ways to get around it. Now those self excluded are going to change letters in their name to get around it :(
Wanting to protect addicts by putting them into a cotton-wool cocoon, by not publishing certain information, is not the way to go. The failures in the system have been exposed and they now need to be corrected.Quote:

People will always find ways to cheat.
GamStop is a nice idea, but not working 100% and never will work 100%. As long as people with gambling problems do not (seek help to) change their behaviour, they'll always find ways to gamble. If not by cheating GamStop, by entering a landbased casino, playing at an illegal gambling site, etc.
It is not a nice idea, it is a totally stupid idea which thinks that people who gamble are retarded. People who gamble are not retarded in the way they have a low IQ and often it is the opposite. Most gamblers I met are in a way intelligent introverts who fail in their life.
Gamstop and such features are nonsense if we really want people to stop gambling. It is another challenge for them to overcome and unlike probability (that needs to be beaten to win in gamble), they are able to overcome it. Also after this nonsense does not stop them to gamble, they have always an excuse for their misbehavior. If those fragile fences fail, they think they are not guilty, the casinos or regulators are, because they did not fulfill their obligation.
The only way how it is possible to restrict gambling and other sins is to show people from kids that the world is full of traps and you either go after enjoyment and bust or you go after hard work. But this education will never happen because it can not happen. Capitalism is the most effective economic system, but it needs most people to be self-destructive. Casinos need such people, affiliates need such people. There is no such a way like safe-gambling.
All those serious debates about Gamstop should stop at least between professionals. It is hijacking the core of the problem. Gamstop is just a cover up for society and for people who are responsible for gambling and who can not bear the guilt that they are the tools for self-destruction of other people.
It's quite interesting how will it change after the fact that Gamstop has a new owner. Maybe, they'll have some more ideas to fix their bugs
