I can't count all those updates anymore or if they make it worse or better.

You can't change any but the quality of your product/site in a kind of common sense.
If you personally (unbiased) would love to consume what you present others to making money out of it, great, just keep pushing.

Can confirm, done it on 110 sites, it's more like 50% and it's over 2-3 months. So much traffic, I'm the one paying casinos a % not the other way around. All jokes aside, I think eenzoo nailed it, and everyone should make an image of that response and reread it once in a while.

If you think this update will punish or not reward "sponsored" articles on news sites you are wrong.
Google does not view sponsored content as spam.

You need to look at this as a business decision by Google.
US newspapers are in financial trouble. They in part blame Google & Facebook for using their content without compensation.

How can Google avoid getting sued? Even if Google wins it doesn't want the negative publicity.

Google is letting newspaper or news sites post articles that are spam. This means that the newspapers make money off of Google search results and will not take Google to court or write negative articles about Google.

Financially. This means that those sites that created top content and make their way to the top of Google organic SERPs will now need to pay Google for ads if they want to go to the top.

Sponsored content is seen by Google as a win win.
It won't be sued and it will get ad revenue from sites that where getting to the top free based on quality content.

If you don't like Google doing this.

You can always complain to Google about Google's policy.
Google will investigate Google.
Google will find that Google did nothing wrong.

Results keep on shuffling for a while after the update is done. If anything has been seriously impacted, you should wait a week or two first, and then start taking actions. It's very easy to go crazy and start changing things, without any clue what went wrong. Once again I can suggest you re-read eenzoo's post and focus on what actually matters.
