    Hi Murton,

While that is true, I do point out that sites I am referring to are less then a year old at this time.

I believe content and site structure is the first thing a web master needs to work on. Internal linking, sequential linking to bring readers to the next related topic, etc. etc.

This work should be done before doing all the off page things to manipulate page rank.

Well what do you think of Wordpress as a CMS? Do you think it qualifies the internal linking and sequential linking to satisfy Google?

If yes, then by your logic, all WP sites should have PR by default in a years time.
If not, can you please let us know what needs to be amended in WP to get the best internal linking structure. Many affiliates use wordpress and would appreciate if your answers can help them in getting PR.

    Hey Satya,

I only use wordpress and I create pages and link those sequentially and that's all.

My content on page one is written so that I can naturally insert the main keyword and hyperlink it to the next topic on page two, so on so forth.

    That's it.

Looks like Google might have started making some changes today... one of my sites increased in PR, though I don't really care about it, but for those who do check your sites.

Link biulding is the best way for acheiving high google page rank. In link building forum posting and the blog commenting is the better way to get backlinks. The more you geeting backlinks increases the pagerank.

    Sorry,

But there are hundreds of people here just at the GPWA that would likely disagree that links are the "best" way to acheive higher rankings....and it's not even the best way to achieve higher pr.

However, if you really want to increase your PR, then all you have to do is to gather as much do-follow backlinks as possible, but without going to the extent of spamming every site just to increase the chance of gaining do-follow backlinks.
Just as you said. Paying attention to the conversions is more important.

What matters most for now is having a high quality content and backlinks.. I may suggest that maybe it would be better if you would focus more on that than increasing your PR..

Aiming for a higher Pagerank is quite hard to attain, for you'll need a lot of effort and time on it. High PR is not even valuable for you to rank higher in SERP. So better to ignore it. IMO, PR is just a tool where you measure your site credibility within the online world and does not counts in terms of SERP ranking.

for me it is very hard to understand PR , as everyone says different about it, but as a fact if my website can gain PR of 5 or 6, that woyld be awsome, but i think it is not gonna happen so easy.

    Default Google page rank

Not just link building techniques or directory submission can make you website rank in Google. You should link your site to other sites to cast a vote. So each vote is taken into account when a pages PageRank is calculated. Now Google will recognize the importance of the vote in your site, this will help your site get rank up.

Why do you consider this would be awesome?

Maybe you don't know but sites with zero PR can and do out-rank sites with high PR. Personally I'd rather have a PR 0 with a spot #1 serp than a PR 5 or 6 site on page 2.

Just interested to read you views on why you think PR is important?

    Cheers

This is not true, but not entirely false either.

Your Page rank is created almost entirely by the links coming into your page, that's it. Page rank is only a measure of your inbound linking. So the PR is used for SERP performance, but it's just one part of the puzzle. It's obviously best to get it as high as you can, but you can still dominate without having a strong PR at all, you just need to do well on some of the other factors that affect SERP rankings.

The reason I say that PR does not relate to crawling frequency is that the frequency in which google crawls your site depends on your site authority, and links. Since if you have more links, you'll get crawled more (but you'll also have a higher PR). This is why it can seem like the two things are related.

But if you went out and got 1million no-follow links, you'd see a massive increase in crawl rate, but almost no increase in page rank.

Remember, the google crawlers do follow no follow links, they just don't pass any link juice from them.
