It's a pretty basic implementation but a good score for Vegas Insider (although I suspect that they're paying cash for the links)

It doesn't surprise me given they started to show lottery results

Is this a Bad thing or a good ?
I have even seen Previews.. NBA.. I'm sure NFL will be the same.. However reading their previews about a game is like chewing cardboard for dinner

If this feature will be implemented on a wider scale I will be very, very angry.
However, I think it won't stick. Google do things like this all the time, testing different features and trying to find the next thing. There are some 30 thousands kids at Google and the coolest thing is when the supervisor accepts your idea and implements it. Ideas and features come and go all the time.
There's no practical way in which Google can show odds for a certain team - let alone an event. Which bookmaker would you use? Which odds format? What about blacklisted territories of the bookie you used?
And why would it be worth to anyone unless you can click on the odds and actually place a bet?
What about the UIGEA then?
Some kid who never placed a bet in his life opened a Pandora's box and wasn't aware how complex this field is. The feature will soon disappear, never to be seen again.
It's either that or it was algorithmically triggered as the article suggested it did. VegasInsider design is just basic enough and would allow for such an event to happen. For those who don't know this, it's pretty difficult to make Google show data from your table in SERPs, and you basically got to get down to bare essentials when it comes to page styling if you want Google to read your table.

Really? That's how you guys see it?
I do wonder how people do marketing sometimes.
Do you think that the information given provides the full answer people want? I don't.
It doesn't provide the BEST odds, comparative odds, or the source of the odds (where to place the bet). Just a headline.
It's a "teaser answer" that means you'll need to click to Vegas Insider to get the full breakdown - and I'm sure you'll find links to place a bet.
That's the way I view it too, very good for the odds comparison sites (in the UK it's oddschecker). Unless G starts doing something shifty like including their own aff links, but from what I've seen whenever google shows snippets the links are only to the original site.

There is a point that someone may not click to the site but someone else may click a result previously he wouldn't. So, this may raise CTR in some cases.
