Google warns against repeat violations of webmaster guidelines

Here's a link to Google's official blog post on the issue: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...webmaster.html

Good stuff. Google need to crack that whip a bit more often to stop spammers and black-hatters from pushing the guideline boundaries too often.

I think it's sensible enough but don't think it will really deter black-hatters or spammers. It's more likely to keep the good guys good though.

Good news, but I agree with Doolally. It won't have as big an impact on black-hatters or spammers as google thinks.

This may seem somewhat of a dumb question and I guess I should know the answer by now, but do you consider a spammer? Is a spammer someone who creates a bunch of links to your site? For example, someone links to my one website repeatably from multiple blogs. I guess trying to get Google to to punish my website and "mess up" my natural link profile and anchor text. Is that what you mean by a spammer?

Google could punish you if somebody did that to you. But its not the only thing they look at, they will look to see if there are any links in personal, IP's or corespondents between the owners of them blogs and yourself.

The term "spammer" was not used in the original article on the Google Webmaster blog. It applies to someone who has notice (sent by Google in webmaster tools) that a "manual action" was taken.

Namely, the audience is people who push the envelope, get notice that they went too far, and then they pull back and file a reconsideration request (pushing and testing boundaries).

In actual it is for repeated violations when in first attempt Google cleared your site, some webmasters remove their disavow files and again make links as do-follow as soon as they see Google removed penalty, this warning is for those type of webmasters
