Lightbulb GPWA Approved Portal Seal Now Multi-Lingual

I'm very pleased to announce that the GPWA Approved Portal seal is now available in a variety of languages. We have completely revised the GPWA seal program and associated infrastructure around support for multiple languages.

By default, when someone visits a GPWA Approved Portal site displaying the seal of approval, the seal will now be automatically displayed in the language set as the visitor's browser default language. And when a visitor clicks on the seal to verify the site is approved, the verification page is also displayed in that same language.

In the wake of UIGEA, it has become increasingly important for webmasters to broaden their reach with a global perspective. The new multi-lingual seal program is specifically designed to establish further credibility for approved sites around the globe for site visitors in all languages.

We expect to add support for a wide variety of languages over time. In addition to English, the initial languages supported include Italian, German, Russian, and Spanish versions of the seal and seal verification pages. Special thanks go to GPWA member Paolino who provided the Italian translation and to GPWA member Nandakishore who provided the German translation.

We invite and welcome webmasters fluent on other languges to help us expand the list of supported languages. Each new language added only requires the translation of a few paragraphs of text. Just send me a pm if you are interested in helping out.

The new multi-lingual seal program includes a new administrative interface that allows webmasters who prefer the seal to be displayed in a specific language to make their language selection. The new interface includes a seal code generator that automatically generates the HTML code required to support display of the seal of approval on GPWA Approved Portal sites.

Complete and newly revised directions for installing GPWA Approved Portal seals are available in the thread https://www.gpwa.org/forum/gpwa-appr...ns-168814.html. This thread can only be viewed by GPWA private members.

Great idea. There are more and more websites springing up to cater for other languages and this will look much more professional for them. It also strengthens the GPWA brand as a global player.

If you want a Scottish translation, just give me a shout!

Today I reviewed the Russian version of the seal, I found a lot of mistakes there, so now I'm correcting it and soon I'll pm Michael with the better version.
