Hi,
Here is my constructive critique:
- The site is very dark, both in design as in the tone of your articles
- Your tone is negative a lot of the times, this is something that I am not fond of. Why not focus on the positives instead of all the negatives (rogue casino's, gambling addiction, losing money, crooked operators). I understand your angle, but I feel it is skewed way too much towards the negative aspects of gambling.
- There is one story (under "Your stories") about a casino addict on your site. I don't think you can have a story about severe gambling addiction followed by 4 casino banners inviting players to come join them. This gives out a very mixed message. Do or don't you want players to join? If you can't decide, then how will to player?
- On one page you say the forum has moved but you don't give the link to the new url. Why not redirect or give the link?
- The 101 gambling forum does not open in a new window, which I think it should as you are going to lose visitors to your site this way
- Your page headers can be more inviting / intriguing: for instance, one page is called "18 simple rules". Better would be: "18 simple rules to maximize your casino profits" or "18 simple ways that will make you a better casino player" etc. You get my drift.
- Your menu is not always logical in its setup. There is one menu "slots casino basics" but the sub menu items are not all about slots.
I hope this helps!
Cheers, Wolfie
Thanks for the critique Wolfie.
Some good pointers. We are still fine tuning the site so will look into your excellent suggestions.
As for the tone or message of the site. Well yes it is very bi polar. That is kind of the aim. The site is there to discourage people from gambling. Basically only if a visitor has read all the warnings, if they still want to gamble then at least we can point them in the right direction.
I know its not usual for an affiliate to try and get their readers to not gamble but thats what we want.
That's good to hear as not a lot of affiliates actually warn people, all they want is their money, so BIG respect!
My points:
- Free space under main text on the home page (add a picture, banner or smth creative).
- You move stuff - http://slots-guide.eu/slot-casino-reviews/, but you don't give a link.
- Remember that traffic from mobiles are growing, so adapt your website more for mobile phone users!
Good luck!
