Thumbs up GPWA forum registrations pass the 9,000 mark!

I'm very pleased to announce that the GPWA passed the 9,000* registered member mark this week! We have quite a crowd here now with many more active members than any other iGaming affiliate site!

Our growth accelerated significantly over the past year. It was less than six months ago that we passed the 8,000 registered member mark, and we we have averaged nearly 200 new registered members each month over the past year.

I'd like to encourage new members (and old members) to sign up to receive your free copy of the GPWA Times magazine. If you are not currently subscribed, just follow the directions for subscribing in the thread Get your copy of GPWA Times magazine issue 11.

And if you are a member of facebook, be sure to join our facebook group with nearly 1,500 members too. Just visit the Gambling Portal Webmaster Association facebook page to join.

And if you are a member of LinkedIn, be sure to join our LinkedIn group with over 1,000 members as well. Just visit the GPWA group on LinkedIn.

    * NOTE: The number of registered members is based on the number of users that have registered on the GPWA vBulletin forum and it includes members that are no longer active. The actual number of current members that receive the weekly GPWA Times e-mail newsletter is nearly 6,000.

I provide these qualifications on registered member numbers because the registered member count on forums powered by vBulletin can be quite deceptive. There are, for example, other forums with far fewer real registrants per week that have inflated new signup numbers due to the activity of bots on the sites. It is the story behind the new registrant numbers that actually matters and not the counts themselves. Be careful putting too much stock in the raw vBulletin registrant numbers or you can be mislead.

Congratulations!! Any odds on when GPWA breaks through the 10,000 member barrier?

My money is on June, probably late in the month.

Im going with mid May for the 10 000 mark.

Now what a great competition idea that is. Guess the Day the GPWA hits 10 000 Members.

Ha!! I was originally going to say May but then I realized January is nearing it's end. I think it will take 5 months, hence my June prediction.

I agree, it has the makings of a fun contest.

Well, I think a contest of that general sort would be fun, but I have an alternate thought about what type of milestone we might want to focus a contest on. Sometime in the not-to-distant future the GPWA will pass the 300,000 post mark. Posts represent real contribution and value.

That is different than forum registrations, where I think the milestones are worth pointing out, but are not worth getting all that excited about because of the distortions caused by bots, and the fact that registrations can therefore be manipulated far too easy to create a false picture.

But having a contest around actual forum posts, that I could see getting pretty excited about.

    How do others feel?

    Great idea!
May have to go as far as picking date and time though since this could attract hundreds (thousands??) of guesses... especially if the prize is 10% of Casino City !!

(clap) Thanks for that ... but ... The declaration that GPWA has 6000 "email addresses" on an email list still isn't representative of "real" members. It would be nicer to see the actual number of "active forum members" ... this is in fact an "accurate" number which vbulletin can easily display, but for one reason or another it's been disabled.

Post without any doubt represent contribution - if no one posted here there would be no forum, certainly it would not be the cash farm that it is. However with that said, the actual 'value' isn't correlated to the "number" as the totality of the post count can be quite misleading as it relates to value. For example, how many threads like "last to post gets 200 bucks" have added to the total count, yet the end value doesn't stack up as it relates to benefit for the community as a whole and/or its members as individuals?

I was listening to affiliate redio last night and they say you have the most active forum to 48% share I think, PAL is 28% with the others all much smaller.
