Thumbs up GPWA Passes 300,000 Posts and 10,000 Members!

I'm very pleased to announce that the GPWA has passed the 300,000 post mark and the 10,000* registered member mark this month! We have quite a crowd here now with many more active members than any other iGaming affiliate site!

Our growth accelerated significantly over the past year. In the last twelve months more than 50,000 posts have been made in the GPWA forums and over 2,000 new members have registered on the site.

I'd like to encourage new members (and old members) to sign up to receive your free copy of the GPWA Times magazine. If you are not currently subscribed, just follow the directions for subscribing in the thread where we announced GPWA Times magazine issue 13.

And if you are a member of facebook, be sure to join us on facebook where we have over 2,000 members between our facebook group and fan page. Just visit the Gambling Portal Webmaster Association facebook fan page to join.

And if you are a member of LinkedIn, be sure to join our LinkedIn group with nearly 1,300 members as well. Just visit the GPWA group on LinkedIn.

    * NOTE: The number of registered members is based on the number of users that have registered on the GPWA vBulletin forum and it includes members that are no longer active. The actual number of current members that receive the weekly GPWA Times e-mail newsletter is over 6,500 and the number of active members in the last 90 days was 1,500 (the active member count includes only registered members who logged-in rather than simply visiting the site) .

I provide these qualifications on registered member numbers because the registered member count on forums powered by vBulletin can be quite deceptive. There are, for example, other forums with far fewer real registrants per week that have inflated new signup numbers due to the activity of bots on the sites. It is the story behind the new registrant numbers that actually matters and not the counts themselves. Be careful putting too much stock in the raw vBulletin registrant numbers or you can be misled.

Just going to show we really do let anyone in.

Seriously, that is great news though I am glad the GPWA is goign from strength to strength.

I can remember when I joined it was because another webmaster recommended me to and I know he used to have 'GPWA' listed in his email siggy, somthing I think I did too for a while.

    Congratulations!

I noted the milestones a couple days ago and wondered how long it would take for someone to post a notice.

And Michael, thank you for clarifying the differences between the posted numbers and the currently active member numbers.

Here's to the next 10,000 active members - after all, it's the quality of our members that matter, not the post or thread count.

Default GPWA has come a long way.

When I signed up there were only a handful of active members. Even my application to be a member took about 6 months.

    Way to go.

This is a great thing for the community.. Even though some of the posts were not so nice, I think it's a good sign that people are communicating and most of all helping each other and getting good information across, especially for newbies thinking about joining..

Just out of curiosity Michael, do you have a list of the top 20 posters ever or something like that? Would be interesting to see the list.

That's a great idea Renee. Look for an announcement next week on that general front. Although I'll probably throw in a few other top lists and statistics just to make it more fun. Maybe biggest windbags - who creates the posts of longest average length, for example.

I think one key factor for GPWA forum's success is the relative freedom of speech here, although in one or the other case Michael has been harshly criticized for putting a stop to this or that dicussion. But, it was always possible to criticize such decisions made by him, equally or even more harshly.
