I'm pleased to announce that the 36th issue of the GPWA Times magazine is now available online and will be distributed next week in Berlin at both the Excellence in iGaming (EiG) conference and Berlin Affiliate Conference (BAC). This issue will also be mailed out to our members, so please be sure to provide us with your mailing address if you would like a hard copy (see details below to make sure we mail you a copy).
UIGEA. It's probably the most provocative and powerful acronym in iGaming - and on 13 October 2016, it celebrates its 10th aniversary. It's hard to believe, but the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is a decade old, and in this issue gaming lawyer Christopher Soriano takes a look back at this controversial legislation that changed our industry forever.
Speaking of industry-changing events, in this issue's cover story Clare Fitzgerald reviews the evolution of bitcoin and explores some of the legal questions that have surrounded the cryptocurrency since it was introduced seven years ago. After interviewing both attorneys and gaming affiliate managers, it's clear that botcoin is gaining momentum and its presence in the iGaming space is becoming increasingly important.
Elsewhere in this issue, Gary Trask discusses the emerging political betting market with a renowned professional gambler and iGaming affiliates who agree that November's U.S. Presidential election is likely to attract a record amount of interest and gambling action.
In addition, there are four new affiliate interviews: Dave Sneekes from the Netherlands, Darren Moore from the U.K. now living in Scotland, Mark Taylor from the U.K. now living in Spain, and Nikola Zugic from Montenegro now living in Servia, while on the affiliate manager side we interview Ioannis Pagounis from Tipbet and Erik Karu from OEG Partners.
You'll also see some familiar faces in the extensive photo gallery from the recent Amsterdam Affiliate Conference and get more important industry news by reading our regular departments: Quotables, Webmaster News, By the Numbers, Event Calendar, the GPWA Sponsors roster, and the APCW Hall of Fame.
