Default Grand National Day Sign-Up Offers

Not long now until the Grand National, expect we'll see a number of standard sign-up offers removed/reduced as we get close to the event. A real pain if you've got a load of pages out there which need to be amended manually for the sake of 1 day (or a few hours in some cases).

What do you guys do? Amend every page then switch back the day afterwards? Do nothing? Put a message on your site to notify punters that deals may have changed/been removed etc for the race? Something else?

Yeah it's annoying. I've tried various different approaches in the past and still not too sure of what's the best way of handling it. Like you say, editing a ton of pages for the sake of a few hours doesn't make a lot of sense. Especially as we often don't know what people are doing until the last minute - I think last year someone pulled it the morning of.

We started using override systems on some of our sites which we can schedule to change what's shown in tables etc.. and we edit high traffic pages, but other than that we tend to just see what happens... I don't think we ever update reviews. We also have dedicated pages for the GN which we update with general offers, those will show the correct welcome bonuses.

It's a problem that comes up every year....

If it helps we still have last years list of free bets up on our event page here: http://www.bettingoffers.org.uk/even...-national.html

    Generally speaking though:

Usually remove: Bet365, Sky, err... anyone else not listed I think.
    Usually reduce: Coral, Betfair, Betfred
Usually keep the same: BetVictor, Vernons, 10Bet

Last year Coral and Betfair were doing enhanced odds offers. Coral's was treble odds on all horses I think.

Cheers, interesting how some attack this event and some don't want anything to do with it in terms of recruiting new, largely low-value punters.

Main issue for me is that it falls bang in the middle of The Masters which is a high traffic week for us so withdrawing offers is annoying. Will contact a few affiliate managers this week to see if they're willing to give me a heads-up on their plans for the GN.

So once again it looks like the bookies aren't going to let us know until the last minute (then complain when we don't pull the offers in time).
The only email I've had regarding this is from AffUtd (WIll Hill) asking for all references to the welcome bonus be removed. Would be nice if the other books would let us know either way.

I'll just write a little note at the top of each of the offer pages. Will Hill say in their emails they want all references to the bonus removing, LOL, sorry guys that's not how SEO works you divs.

I've got kill switches to remove operators from all of my listings (tables, sidebars etc), but I won't be changing all my review pages

I just removed all my will hill reviews and scheduled them to come back in a week. Thankfully none of them get any search traffic as there's no way I'm going through all of them editing it line by line.

It's funny how it's always the worst affliate programs (revenue and trust wise) that are also the ones that make their affiliates jump through the most hoops. I wouldn't mind for certain programs, but it's always the dick programs like Will Hill who pull this crap out and get threatening with it.
