Greece changes online gambling laws again

Last Thursday, the Greek Parliament received the new proposal for online gambling laws from the Ministry of Development and Investment of Greece. If approved, there will be several differences for online operators in Greece.

This draft would lower the online sports betting licenses by €1 million, bringing it down to €3 million. Other license fees such as online casino and poker licenses would be twice as much as before, going to €2 million.

Another big change is that the corporate tax rate will now extend to another third of the license holder’s income.

In 2011, 24 operators were awarded temporary Greek licenses. Those operators will be allowed to use those licenses until 31 March 2020.

Furthermore, the government dropped plans to include a ‘15-20% variable tax’ on online gambling player winnings above €100 and €500 range.
