Has anyone used Facebook to promote their gambling site?

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with using Facebook to promote their gambling site?

The Ads T&C section on Facebook appears to suggest that all gambling advertisement, promotion etc. Is not allowed, unless you get written permission. Although being Facebook it doesn't make it clear where one can write to them for permission. However, there are many Ads and pages being run on Facebook promoting various gambling websites; it seems contradictory to their T&C.

So I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with Facebook running their ads in the past, and how easy it was to do?

You can advertise gambling on facebook, certainly in the UK (my feed is full of them ;-) ) but I believe you need a minimum monthly budget of $10,000, maybe even 30,000

Wow $10,000 a month, seems extortionate!

I've seen people advertising sites with less budget, but you risk Facebook shutting down any page you're advertising, which has happened to affiliates. You need to be buying through an account manager for it to be permitted officially, which I believe is, or was, $10k+ per month.

I tried advertising my gambling website on Facebook in Belgium. I got a email that I have to spend a minimum of $50,000 a month!

I have advertised my online bingo facebook page via fb ads a couple of times on a relatively small budget and never had any issues. The only thing I've found is they can be picky on the wording of your ads. But I guess this is the same with any ad network.

Having read more into the issue, it would appear that Facebook block your ads or pages on a reactive basis. So you might get lucky and get away with it or not.

I can't remember where I heard it or who said it, but someone told me that their rules had changed and you could go in with a smaller budget nowadays.

Then again, it might have been a dream...

Only one way to find out, I guess!

I regularly promote both my facebook posts and website on Facebook. Promoting a post starts at $5 and website cpc campaigns have a minimum of around $5 per day. They have some strange requirements about the amount of text in images though, but I never ran into real issues and ads are approved quickly.

If they want to limit the average Joe, they should place the same limit on the brands.

What you don't like that?

So are you saying Facebook doesn't have to act in a fair and ethical manner because they are so big?

Are you worried that eventually facebook users will figure out that they are all about the money and that they don't really care about their users?

I think Facebook Does Not Allow us to promote Adult Or Betting Online....Not Sure....

I've done it on a small scale, worked nicely, but remember to have appropriate age settings (+21), and indeed, the bigger the page gets, the more likely it is that it will be closed. So it's always a risk you take. None of my pages were closed yet, but they are not really big. I think the big pages attract more attention, and are in more danger.

Also, don't spam, let people come to you naturally, through your website or other social media channels, since spamming people will get you banned for sure!

As far as I am aware, FB does not accept any gaming advertising.

You're completely right. It's not actually allowed, but it can still be done, if you just use some tricks of the trade. That said, most pages, especially popular ones WILL be closed by Facebook at some point, so it's not really the best long term investment in any way.

Don't promote your website through paid advertising on FB, promote your page on facebook (minimum ~£4) and through your page people will go to your site.


Regarding a previous post about facebook deleting gambling pages... what do you have to do to have your page deleted aside from posting affiliate links?

I think Facebook only remove groups or pages that have been spammed all over the place. My friend has used Facebook to promote gambling, i see that GPWA still has their Facebook page as well. I guess if you break Facebook TOS then expect your page or group to be removed.

The problem with Facebook in my niche is that there is a lot of scam artists charging for fixed matches. Facebook allows these pages to exist and it turns off some of my potential customers.

Also I advertised my gambling website last weekend on Facebook with a budget of £100

I used to manage the SEO and social channels for an operator in 2012, we got away with advertising our site for a few months and then one day our page disappeared, we got an email from Facebook asking for $30.000 per month in order to continue advertising in the UK...we tried to get the page back but it's actually very hard to get in touch with Facebook.. We only got replies when we mentioned money...A couple of weeks after our page disappeared we received 2 emails from different AMs both asking for a monthly fee for advertising, the fee they asked for was different in all cases which was very weird..

As for affiliates I have heard that some are doing quite well with facebook advertising..maybe it's a case of doing it and cashing in for as long as possible before you get caught? It would be good to get an answer from an affiliate that's actually successful with fb ads at the moment
