Has Facebook ever sent friend requests to others?

I'll recently received an email from a valued affiliate who was a little upset about the fact that he received a Facebook Friend request from a FaceBook page that I hardly ever use anymore. Here's the link to the main pages of the page:

I haven't made any requests at all, and only log in once a month to check the account. After explaining this to the affiliate he thinks I'm lying to him. Even throws a few explicatives. I still like this affiliate so it doesn't really bother me. I know that this is how he expresses him self under special circumstances.

I found out that Terry also might have received a request as well. It has to be Facebook sending out requests from account that are hardly ever use?????

Or perhaps the first affiliate saw a "Suggested Friends" or "Common Friends" and though I was actively pursuing them?

Anyway, the bottom line is to not get freaked on a facebook friend request.
We can't start making big deals about things like that.

Your link doesn't work - Is it definitely a page or is it a group? If its a group FB recently changed their settings which is causing all sort of problems like this, basically the groups are opt out now not opt in so if someone invites someone they automatically are joined and get a shed load of updates until they change teh group settings or leave - Only good thing is once they have left no one can add them again. Oh and any member can invite people not just teh admin

If it isn't a group could it be someone else inviting them to the page? Anyone can do that not just the owner

In my case, I initiated the contact. I happened to come across the profile and thought I'd add it as a friend simply so any updates would show up on my wall. Free advertising for Lucky Live casino...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I had an affiliate send an email letting me know that he got a request. I thought someone might have hacked my account.

I CANNOT tell you how frustrating I find this feature.. The frustrating part is that you can't remove yourself from being able to be added to groups.. You can only remove yourself once you've been added..

Everyone in that group can now see everything on your page.. If I wanted that I'd be friends with them, right?

Stupid facebook..
