Question Have you ever been the subject of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack?

Earlier today we were subjected to a DDOS attack for a couple hours during the middle of the day. And a few days ago we were subject to a DDOS attack for about an hour during the middle of the night. We're not alone. DDOS attacks are mentioned periodically in the forums.

So, with DDOS attacks fresh on my mind, I decided it was a good question for this week's poll. Have any of your sites ever been subjected to a DDOS attack? And, whether you have been attacked or not, do you have a plan in place about how you will respond if you are subjected to a DDOS attack?

In our case, we didn't have a service in place before the attack that took place earlier today. But we now have a DDOS mitigation service operational and in place.

We are using Cloudflare. I hope this is enough

I got attacked in 2013... cloudflare wasn't enough at that time due to the scale and severity of the DDOS.

I had to get an expensive ass service for about 6 months to keep my sites and servers up. Also burned a quality webhost in the whole ordeal. It was a major pain in the ass.

The service I used in 2013 was called DOS Arrest... it worked but was costly.

I suffered a few attacks in the past, but they were relatively minor and the webhost did a good job to bail me out.

I do have a plugin or two to help with security (ip class banning, stuff like that) and secured the code a bit (mostly for sql injection, not sure if it helps with ddos), but I wouldn`t exactly say I have a plan in place. Though I have not been attacked in many years, so maybe something is working

Rostick - that might help against hackers, but against a DDOS attack there's nothing you can do with only these measures.

Yea, that was my guess, this stuff is not my specialty. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
