Question Have you ever made a contribution as part of an iGaming fundraising drive?

Over the years folks in the iGaming industry have stepped up to help folks in need many times.

Some of the earliest instances I am aware of are the annual GIGSE fundraising efforts that took place over several years.

Then I remember back in 2005 casinomeister auctioned off advertising space on his site with the proceeds going to tsunami victims.

More recently, many webmasters contributed to the Hatian earthquake relief effort with Calvin Ayre pledging to match donations of up to a million dollars.

And closer to home, many webmasters have reached out over the years to help fellow webmasters in times of need. This week there is a call to help the Captain's family in a post here: The Allan and Patricia Leonard Fund.

How about you? Have you ever supported a fellow webmaster with a contribution or supported a cause under the iGaming banner?

Sure, I have... It's all good karma, I suppose

And I think I've seen a number of non directly monetary gestures... "free" homepage links and other direct help to get sites on the right path.

For most of us in this industry, we are so blessed. We make nice livings, set our own pace and enjoy what we do. For this, I believe gratitude in the form of helping others (no matter the gesture or how small or large), should be a no-brainer.

I'd just like to see the big players (i.e., the larger operators) pitching in a bit more. While we were able to raise something like a quarter million for Haiti, we should remember that Calvin was responsible for half of that number. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that the industry only managed to pull in $100k or so--much of that was individual cash donations that just added up. Very few operators contributed, which I find to be incredibly disappointing.

Anyhow, sorry about the soap-boxy stuff. I AM truly inspired by those who contunually show their hearts and generosity--hopefully it'll rub off on others.

I was thinking last week how it would be nice to raise funds for Allan's family, I just didn't know how to start something so I was particularly touched to see that it was already being done here.

I am not a well off person but I believe in the spirit of giving with a passion and feel that if more of us did it, the world would be a much better place. Just think of how much change the world could make just using the spare change laying around their house.

I haven't contributed anything as far as the iGaming world goes yet but I definitely plan to in the future. Whenever I see an opportunity to donate, I am all for it! Be it at the grocery store for the premature babies or the firefighters who walk around with the boots, I just can't help myself. I have to give something.

Allan himself started a fund raiser in our community a few years ago, when a young lady was burned all over her body and her parents needed funds to travel to the hospital and stay with her.

There have been many formal and informal fund raisers. It warms my heart that our community, as diverse as our origins and points of view can be, seems to always pull together when there is a need.
