Question Have you ever paid for traffic to your sites?

As online gaming affiliates, we earn our living by being paid for traffic we send to online gaming sites.

Many of us rely solely on on organic search and free links to generate the traffic to our sites, but some affiliates do pay to help generate traffic to their sites. How about you. Besides voting in the poll share your thoughts about whether you feel paid advertising has been or would be worthwhile or a waste of money for you.

I've purchased different types of ads in the past. A total waste of money. It would've been better to use the money to add more content to the site.

    I totaly agree with that.
I have paid once in the past for some text links in other sites. I think it's not worth the money.

I'm using Adwords for many years now and it delivers high quality traffic. Of course, it takes some time to optimize cpc and ads, but once done, they're simply the best.

Throughout the years I've tested dozens of other search, cpc, cpv, popup and social media networks, but they just don't deliver quality traffic. Even Bing search didn't work for me. Adwords isn't cheap, but they are best value for the money imho.

I have to agree with the posts above. Paid direct traffic in general is a complete waste of money. I have tested many PPC campaigns, PPV, Popups, Popunders, banner placements, and none of them ever made a profit. Back in the early days, PPC was very fruitful.

It is hard to find the right sources for a reasonable price but there are billions of quality clicks outside and paid traffic is not wast of money and time.
But buying traffic without tracking is wast of money and time. It is pretty hard to track conversions at a site, driven by BOTH, natural and paid traffic.

Build a page dedicated just for paid traffic, setup a proper tracking (iMobtrax, Voluum), let place a post back pixels from your Affiliate manager at the landing pages and then you can start to buy traffic. You can track what traffic you receive in real (can be a big surprise ), track what banner, keyword, country, device convert and then you can optimize banners, landing pages etc, etc, until ROI.

You have to apply for certification to promote gambling: https://support.google.com/adwordspo.../6018017?hl=en
They will review your site and let you know if it's approved or not (and why). They have very strict quality demands.

No, mostly not because I didn't want to, but because when it comes to gambling we are not allowed to or charged a stupid made up fee, that no reasoning can justify.

I have never heard many good stories about paying for traffic. Google would be the only one I would probably consider but living in the US that is not an option.

Tried some PPC and I must say organic is much prefereable. It's a hard life trying to make money on PPC, you have to REALLY know what you're doing and have the right deals in place at the bookie/casino end to know what you're gona get paid for this traffic.

That being said, there's no such thing as totally free traffic, you pay for it one way or another through time. But monitoring and managing PPC also takes time and effort, so in terms of ROI I find getting good at SEO and doing organic is the best bet for most people.

Years ago PPC was the way to go. There was always fraudulent clicks but overall it was worthwhile. Much more difficult these day to make a profit from PPC but it is still possible if you're very selective with keywords and target correctly.
