OK I will admit, I'm being a bit cheeky here..

I went to the beach at lunch time again today (it is only the 2nd day of the second month of spring and it is ranging between 25-35C every day) and I took a photo of the sun.

Well it's going to be 38C today but it doesn't look like it's going to be beach weather. The smoke from the fires is all over the city. In fact, what is usually a very clear view of the city from our office balcony is now just brown smoke. Can't even see any of the buildings 100m away.

I have a feeling this year is going to be bad for bushfires. No idea why they didn't start backburning months ago. They should have known we would have a hot summer since winter was so warm.

So far I think only one person has died, but that was of a heart attack trying to help put out the fire. I don't think anyone has died in the fires yet. And many people have been generous giving to those who have lost their houses. One lady lost her house 2 days before her wedding, and a local radio station rallied to get her a new dress, bridesmaids dresses etc etc from donations. I hope she had a beautiful day on the weekend.
