Default Hi all! A few beginner questions

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great day whatever part of the world you are in

I am taking my first venture into the affiliate space and plan to make a casino jackpot site. After reading through this forum, another forum and doing some google research I am still a little confused about where to start with creating an affiliate account!

Am I correct that I should look at the various affiliate programs out there (rewardsaffiliates, buffalopartners, etc) and choose one to sign up to and start using them to promote casinos? Or alternately I can partner with several for more site coverage?

And then each one of those will generally use one of the income tracking platforms such as incomeaccess or netreferer, which I will get access to by making an account with them?

Sorry for such n00bish questions, but I guess this is the right forum for it. I've tried to figure this out for myself but it's a little overwhelming with what seems like so many options out there. I thought it would be as simple as going to the casino site themselves but from what I can see they outsource promotion of their casino to a particular affiliate program?

Thanks for any help. Hopefully I can give back to the forum one day

    HI Omnomnom,

No question is a stupid one although some people on here and elsehere will tell you that but never believe it.

Welcome to the world of online gaming and good luck.

    Ok so here goes.

Make sure you work with programs that are reputable and have a good reputation these forums and ones like Casino Meister and affiliate guarddog have lists of those you should not work for .. Look for things like do they pay Players are they paying Affiliates etc make sure you do your research dont sign up with programs that may Hit and Run.

    Its all about Research.

Make sure you sign up with programs that offer casinos in the territories you want to advertise its no point in signing up at a casino that only take Euro traffic when you'll be sending US Players for example.

Dont be Afraid to ask questions of the affiliate programs.

You can use other affiliate websites to gauge who most of the bigger affiliates are working with and then draw up a list of the casinos you want to advertise these guys are very knowledgeable have been doing this a long time and if they are working with a casino then 9 out of 10 Times its a good choice.

Once you have this list visit the casino sites search for the affiliate program that is affiliated to the casino.

Sign up and open an affiliate account.

Some affiliate programs will approve you there and then others will take a day or so.

Once your account is approved your ready to go.

You may get sent an automated email with Links and marketing material after your account is approved or you will need to login to each affiliates website and pull the trackers etc you require.

Most affiliate programs have more than 1 Casino so yes you could pull all your links from one site or you could pick the brand you want to advertise and just pull links for that particular brand.

Once your trackers are up and live and you start seeing some traffic then you can then go back into each site Log in and check your stats but you will need to do this with each program you've signed up at or use an aggregated system that will incorporate all your stats into one easy system like StatsRemote

Ask affiliate managers advice ask for assistance when your stuck or unsure any affiliate program or manager worth there wait will assist you and if they dont well then maybe that's a sign you shouldn't be working with them.

Hope this help you and shout if you need more help.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it! Just to make sure I am clear, while an affiliate program might work with many casinos, a casino will only work with one affiliate program, correct?

Not not 100% true some casinos do not have their own affiliate programs so will outsource to Independent affiliate programs so it does happen all be it not to often that 1 casino can be represented by more than 1 affiliate program but the deals you get will be the same which ever you chose to join . Its rare but does happen

I would suggest to first start with a limited number of affiliate programs.. don't start with too many at first because you won't be able to manage them all, managing a lot of affiliate programs takes a lot of time.

Go with the ones that are recommendedby gpwa first and slowly develop and add more and more affiliate programs as the time goes.

    Good luck

Check the T&Cs for any initial quotas too when starting out - success isn't often immediate/slower than anticipated and some programs might insist on X number of funded accounts in the first month/3 months etc.

You can always start with elimination Go through this forum and you'll see many threads about affiliate programs that are rogue, unreachable or much late with payments.
Then there are affiliate websites who are super-affiliates and have listed affiliate programs - their reviews, important info as commission structure, negative carryover, payment methods, payment dates, fees etc. (poggwebmasters, askgamblers, gaffg, eeg..) and of course portals like GPWA and AffiliateGuardDog.
Good places to check lots of affiliate programs, compare them, pick suitable ones for you (regarding their countries, brands, payments...)

    Hi there,

I just started recently myself and I agree with most of the replies on here. It takes a little time to get used to the concept and lingo but don't beat yourself up when you find something tricky. Just push forward and reach out when you need help... There's always someone out there to answer your questions

Be sure to carefully research some of the programs here BEFORE putting a lot of effort in to them.

In your original post you mentioned Rewards and Buffalo.

Many here would agree that Rewards Affiliates is a good choice and you will find Renee a great help and she is always no more than a pm (private message) or email away for answering questions.

Many here would also suggest that maybe Buffalo is not near as good of a choice.

Just be sure to perform some searches here, and be sure to pick through a few of the "hacker" threads since dealing with the groups that support the hackers is suggested against.

Like someone said above testing is a good thing and to find groups to try out, have a read through the Chatter Box as well as the Freshman Forum since there are many discussions about who to choose etc.

In our experience, casino promotion is not necessarily the most profitable use of gambling advertising/traffic. You could spend $10,000 on traffic to promote a casino that people already have an account at, so you will have achieved nothing. If you want to promote casinos, you will do better to promote new brands. But most of our clients that pay best arent the casinos themselves, its related services.

The best thing about promoting casinos is that you keep your players. So if you can manage to send new players to a casino then you will make a commission on everything they ever spend at the casino

The best way to get started as an affiliate is to take time to learn and research as much as possible. You will want to promote brands that are accessible in your country to attract more traffic. With almost every operating casino offering an affiliate program, there are tons of choices.

Try to choose one that is a reputable brand and has a positive track record. It may not be beneficial to go with the most popular online casino as chances are, they will already have tons of affiliates. New casino sites are a great starting point as they need the promotion and will usually offer an attractive incentive package to new affiliates.

The key is not to wait, Once you sign up with an affiliate, make sure to immediately start promoting so you don’t lose out on any special commission rates for the first few months.
