Question Which hosting company do you use?

    Hey guys

I'm looking for the best web hosting company for casino portals. Which one do you use? And what countries do you target?

For UK I can recommend (off the top of my head):

    - Vidahost / Tsohost (same company)
    - Xilo
    - Webhostingbuzz

Also had good experiences with krystal and host presto (formally knet).

Heart internet seem to have mixed reviews, but they've always been good for me.

What criteria are you using to say that a host is good or bad, baldy? I mean, what makes you recommend one host and not the other?

It depends what traffic you got on your sites, what you offer and etc - I think for most affiliate sites any shared hosting GEO located to the targeted location would do it.

Key points for me are probably fast servers, low-downtime and responsive experienced support (vidahost and xilo both respond to tickets within 10 minutes and they've always been fantastic).

Have also never had any kind of issues with the above and have been using them for years. All I can ask for really...

I'm asking because in that other thread "Time to first byte" I suggested the man to move from Vidahost because of the 2+ seconds waiting time, which is just plain awful for a simple site.

I presume you're using a dedicated server, based on the goodbonusguide loading time and my assumption that you know what you're doing. But things are different when you choose a shared plan.

For example, Rochen have lightning fast shared plans, good VPS plans, and dedicated servers which aren't powerful enough. On the other hand, IceBlueHost shared plans are average but dedicated servers are cutting edge technology.

If you don't mind me asking, which exact host and plan are you using for goodbonusguide? Those are some good speed results.

liquidweb is very reliable. Other inexpensive options include namecheap and justhost.

Knownhost. Good prices, great support, good configurations for dedi hosting. 99,9% uptime, for me no one minute downtime.

Most of my vidahost stuff is either shared or cloud, so that's surprised me although I do have a suggestion which I may put forward in the other thread. Here's an example of a database heavy site of mine that's just on shared hosting with them and seems to load quickly: http://www.bettingoffers.org.uk/

Goodbonusguide is actually with UK2 - it's an old site that I set up when I first started that probably needs a bit of a revamp. It's the only one I have with them though as we had a long period of issues with the hosting (including where they weren't backing up the server, despite us paying extra for the service) so tend to go elsewhere for hosting these days, but happy to leave that site with them.

That's interesting - I have quite a few sites with them and never had any downtime (according to my monitoring service at least).

By "database heavy" I meant CMS like Wordpress or Joomla that access the giant database ten times back and forth just to display the site logo. While you may be doing a lot of database operations on those two sites, it's still lean compared to what Wordpress is doing to load a single page.

I presume Bettingoffers.org.uk and Goodbonusguide are actually HTML sites and you're accessing the database with your own code?

Cache, gzip, sprites and css instead of images wherever possible.

And a lack of any graphical content whatsoever, a cynic would say.

Still, a great achievement for a Joomla site on a shared server. And the hosts are doing their part.

Be careful with Bluehost, gambling portals are technically against their TOS and they've been shutting down a few sites recently (see: https://www.gpwa.org/forum/if-you-us...ap-215600.html)
