    Default hotlens.com stealing my news

Hotlens.com is stealing ALL my casino news from casinoimpact.com and also from another blog i have, i'm really disappointed.

    Example:

    ORIGINAL:
    xxhttp://www.casinoimpact.com/it/notizie-casino/poker-online/30102006/possibile-fusione-fra-888-e-party-gaming.html

    COPIED:
    xxhttp://www.hotlens.com/possibile-fusione-fra-888-e-party-gaming-81.html

I'm really wondering when this shame will stop.

Yes, it's really. I don't know what to do, but you may contact the webmaster and tell him if he don't stop to steal news you'll tell Google about it.

The email address they have on the website doesn't exist, so i've contacted their hosting provider only.

Unfortunately i have bad news. It's very difficult to determine who is the news owner. And it's also very difficult to prove who is the site owner, as their email address didn't exist when i've sent the mail this morning.

So i decided to send an email to the hosting provider with some evidence about the material i own:

1 - an email with an attachment of all news i've written in english and then translated in italian.

2- an email containing an attachment with all links with all copied content.

    This is the answer:

    Hello,

We have contacted our client that you claim have stolen the articles from you and he claim as well that these articles are from a web site that is open for the public.

At present all files you have sent does not prove in any way you ar ethe articles owner and thus we are unable to do more.

    Best Regards,
    AWARDSPACE Dedicated Support Team
Of course it's impossible they found my news in another website except mine, as i'm the writer of all italian news. But i can't prove it, or actually i don't have any ideas about proving it.

EDIT: I'm not against people who use my news in their websites, but if they do, they should post a link to my website as the source.

You may contact Google and asked them to help you. If your news are indexed in Google they can know which news were appeared first in the Internet.
I would contact Google on your place and other search engines, that they penalize this site.

Be sure to do a whois and make sure the admin and tech contact information is accurate.

If not, file an invalid whois data reprt with Internic.

They only accept reports on invalid info for Admin and Technical contacts however, so keep that in mind.

The form is located at xxhttp://wdprs.internic.net/ be sure to use a valid email address as you must confirm the report or it is not filed. By policy, the registrar MUST look into the report.

Rick, good suggestion. Did a quick look at the WHOIS, and.... Gee, looks like it might be fake. Otherwise that contact must've had one hell of a time getting called on first for everything done alphabetically.

There is a link to report invalid whois on the godaddy details about this site. Is that one ok or is it better to file directly with internic?

Honestly, if someone has stolen content from me and I am going to the trouble to report them, I would do both.

Internic and ICANN policy is pretty clear on the steps that must be taken by the registrar when they get this type of report.

I think the minimum is that the email address is valid, and by policy the address is supposed to be valid.

The registrar is to request from the contacts that they fix any info that is invalid and failure to do so within a 30 day period is grounds for the domain to be turned off!!

Due to privacy concerns etc, some info can be hidden through proxy sites etc....but I do believe that the info must still be valid so that Internic can reach the appropriate contacts through the proxy service.

The difficult part comes from when the Registrar fails to act on the reports.

Not 100% certain, I had a rather long night. I came by the GPWA I saw this content theft as still being an issue. I did a very quick run down and posted any additonal information that may be useful.

I mapped out the site and could not locate a email address. I do know the IP address for his/her email.

It seems apparent this fellow wouldn't be giving up anytime soon. I will do a more extensive search should have some more concrete results by Friday.

I do not like content thieves or anything similiar.

Again, thanks. This won't be an issue anymore if the fellow stops to steal my news. He/She probaly was advised by the hosting provider as now i see in one news (xxhttp://www.hotlens.com/possibile-fusione-fra-888-e-party-gaming-81.html#more-81) that casinoimpact.com was reported as the source of the article. Same thing didn't happen for all the other 30+ news he/she has stolen me, but as i said before, it's important that he/she stops here and more in general that people understand that stealing material from others isn't the way for success.

If you think they're copy/pasting without reading the articles they take, you could try adding a sentence somewhere in the body of the article like "If this appears on a website other than casino impact, it was copied without permission." Would only want to do this if they're taking most articles, otherwise the chance they take that one might not outweigh the awkwardness of having it on your site reading like that for your visitors -- but if they're taking a lot of them and not editing, it is a quick way of providing proof of the theft in a way the host couldn't really dispute.

In my work creating a poker dictionary, I came across competiting dictionaries that used similar methods -- specifically one with the author talking about himself in the first person and referencing a book he wrote. Only works if thief doesn't edit, though.

    hi Paolino,

Where do you get the news from? can i be that you took them from somewhere and it was just hotlens's second site that they copied it to?

No it's impossible. I receive content from aff.managers, and press releases. Then i personally translate them in italian and publish on website. So all the content is original and written by me. I only publish fresh content in my website, as every webmaster usually do.

    Default i see

But i see you have an english section, so where do you get that content from; if its press release then surly that is copied from another site/source, therefore you are doing a very similar thing to what hotlens does.

Yes of course i get news from press releases, but from press-releases i create original content. Also the english news are written by me. As i said in previous posts, i was disappointed because hotlens copied word by word all my content.

How can you create original content if you take articles from press releases? So you mean there is a difference between copying word by word and copying every two words? I noticed that this is not the first time you write about copycats - if you get news somewhere on the internet those are copied anyway so I wouldn't complain if others do the same.
