How Colleges and Sports-Betting Companies ‘Caesarized’ Campus Life
Maybe this helps to explain why some colleges are starting to advertise for casinos and sportsbooks. Real competition because they are EDU associated websites.
"In September 2021, an official in Michigan State University’s athletic department sent an email to his boss with exciting news: An online betting company was willing to pay handsomely for the right to promote gambling at the university.
“Alan, if we are willing to take an aggressive position, we have a $1 M/year deal on the table with Caesar’s,” Paul Schager wrote to Alan Haller, the university’s athletic director."

Big difference between Caesars or any other licensed operator paying the college directly a sponsorship amount for ads and a student or some it guy collecting money from affiliates for links and guest posts on pages, most often without the college administration knowing a thing about.
Administrations, NCAA, Big10, and any other sanctioning bodies etc etc should be made aware if it is in fact the latter.
