How did 2009 revenue compare with 2008 revenue for you?

Now that 2009 has drawn to a close I thought it would be interesting to ask how the affiliate revenue you earned in 2009 compared to what you earned in 2008.

How did it change? Did it get better, stay the same, or get worse for you?

And posts about your thoughts for the changes you have seen and your view of what the future holds are welcome. Do you think the changes between the two years is due to general business changes, to changes you have made to your sites, to a change in your level of effort, or something else?

Our revenue grew 41-50% mainly because of reinvestment back into our business to improve our rankings.

Good revenue growth - but we've started to get to the point where 100%+ improvements are not possible anymore.

Still - pleased to see around +25% on 2008 - and as that was done even though we had a quiet June/July (no major football tourney - compared to Euro2008 ) so it's a successful result.

I can't work out why the growth occured - no real changes to our sites markets or content - just put it down to growth in internet traffic generally I guess.

With the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 - I'd expect June/July this year to be a factor of 5-6x June/July 2009 !!
So hopefully 2010 beats 2009 too!

Revenue for us for 2009 shrank around 10% but not too concerning. This was in part down to me not working much on our sites for the first half of the year.

Our financial year which ended Oct 2009, was pretty much the same as the 2008 finanicial year though - showing a healthy profit.

My revenue increased by >50% in 2009. It was a good year for me. 2010 should increase by more than 50% as well.

ow time to get to work and make it happen.

Down a little for me last year. Mainly down to putting less time in for the past 18 months after the arrival of our 3 babies. Hopefully, we're over the worst now and can get down to business!!

Who am I kidding? We've got the terrible twos coming up!!

I voted >50% but I cannot calculate my growth because in 2008 I was a very very small affiliate...

Mine was way down this past year. But I honestly believe have learned more this past year than I had the last four years or so. I "just feel" a much better year coming ! :rockon:

Without commenting on my personal growth (I did vote though !), it seems that it took more traffic to get the same # of conversions, this past year. Not sure if this is a direct reflection on the state of the world economy, the fact that competition is keener, pure randomness, or a combination of all 3. Here's hoping that 2010 is a good year for all of you (especially me !) :)

Traffic was the same the conversions were a lot better. I'd say that I experienced a growth of a lot more than 50%

I have a very specific niche and my traffic was up, but got fewer conversions by percentage. I attribute it to increased competition and the fact that I've collected most of the "low hanging fruit."

On a positive note, my commissions were higher due to increased play by my clientele.

I haven't crunched the numbers but I'm happy to say that while traffic increased a little, conversions were up by quite a lot. The bulk of my earnings comes from only a handful of programs and one in particular is producing very well for me.

I would say that 2010 is going to be a very profitable year based on the last quarter of 09.

lol. I was curious who it was that had something to say about revenue comparisons from 2 years ago but this was kind of funny too.

It's strange looking back at it now in light of all that's happened since then.
