Question How did your pageviews change in the past year compared with the year before?

As affiliates, there are lots of different measures of success we can use. At the very bottom of the sales funnel is the actual revenue we receive. But there are measures higher up the revenue funnel that are more directly controllable, and less subject to variance due to good or bad luck. For example, how much web traffic do you receive.

For the GPWA.org website, I just took a look at our Google Analytics figures for the last twelve months versus the previous twelve months. This is what was reported:

Sessions up 13.77% (532,063 in the past year versus 467,674 the year before)
Users up 16.87% (288,183 in the past year versus 246,574 the year before)
Pageviews up 5.82% (1,886,266 in the past year versus 1,782,466 the year before)

If you are not sure how to make these comparisons, they are easy. Within Google Analytics you can click on the current date range being displayed, and change the current period to be any period you want. And in the same location you can request that data for the selected period be compared with the same data for the previous period.

For this week's poll, compare your statistics for the past year with the year before. Besides voting in the poll regarding the change in your pageviews, I invite you to post your changes in other statistics (just share percentages if you don't want to share actual counts). And be sure to share the reason (or reasons) you think your numbers have changes, be it for better or for worse.

Our page views are way down - by choice.

We've banned AWS from our site (bot central) as well as most known Euro host sites scrape bots and SEO merchants - and also dropped a few countries like most of India and the Ukraine. Fully 40-50% of our traffic was not human eyes previously. That's now down to about 1%

Examine your logs carefully and you'll see a lot of bots.

As I run a number of sites, I calculated an average: up 314% compared to the year before.
