How do you feel about links in your Sig?

I posted in this thread Signature Activate and wondered about how all of us manage our signatures.

I have not had my links in my sig for some time.

How do you feel about the links in your siggys? How do you feel about others siggys?

Is too much to much?

Is less more?

Does the most benefit the most?

I think a few lines is fine in a siggie
I think a list of 7+ links is alot and even hurts the views appeal of the forum!
Siggies sometimes point out something interesting to me

Guess the most valuable way for signatures in webmaster forums are affiliate links to SEO programs / services.
The SEO benefit to links pointing to your websites is questionable since Google might have devalued them for a long time...

I think that as long as you have links from a fair number of forums, the forums are relevant and you're careful with you anchor text sig links can make a fairly big difference in SEO terms. I've played around with anchor text before (given that with most boards, if you change your sig it changes on all the posts you've ever made rather than just from that point on) and noticed some fairly big changes in ranking. May just have been cooincidence, but i doubt it.

I agree they help. i have played around with different pages and anchor and it does seem to help.
