Question How does traffic in the first three weeks in April 2020 compare with last year?

I decided it would be interesting to compare traffic for the first three weeks of April (April 1-21) this year with last year as a measure of how the coronavirus pandemic was influencing site traffic. This is pretty easy in google analytics. Just select April 1, 2020 to April 21, 2020 as the time period, and say you want to compare that to the previous year.

For the GPWA pageviews increased 26.68%, unique pageviews increased 25.03%, average time on page increased 2.65%, and average bounce rate decreased 3.39%. All the sorts of changes I like to see. And that is pretty much consistent with my observations that there is more activity in the forum as well.

I encourage you to view your site statistics for the first three weeks of April tool, and to both vote in the poll, and share more specific numbers here, along with your view of the reason why. Maybe you think the change is due to the pandemic, or maybe you think it is due to entirely different reasons.

I also did a comparison of January 2020 to January 2019, and the numbers were very close to one another, supporting my view that the increased level traffic in the forums in April is indeed a consequence of the pandemic.

Good idea. My site is up massively compared to last year (+228%), however, this is due to fact my site was barely a year old this time last year. I can't draw any conclusions comparing year on year vis a vis Covid-19. My site is up on March and February too though. This could be combination of the increased article activity gaining traction and people being indoors?

Judging by your name, you have a poker website.

Poker has exploded in volume during the Wu Flu lockdown of the world.

Many networks are up 300% in volume... It would make sense that many poker affiliates are seeing increased traffic also

Mine is up 113% percent when compared with April-2019 (that obviously include organic growth).

I think we should compare March-2020 vs April-2020, the stats then would reflect more accurate the influence of the confinement on visitor traffic..

Traffic sharply up this month compared to the previous three Aprils, although we only promote casino I know from affiliate managers that a few play sports too. Normally the quietest quarter of the year is February-April.

Sign-up bonuses seem very popular at the moment (I guess new punters?) and had a lot of players complaining that they have been "bonus banned" from a particular group for taking too many across sister sites.

Seems the majority are playing responsibility with frequent, low deposits (20-50 GBP) each day. Only the big bookie sites (Betfair, Will Hill) you get some crazy deposits of 100k or more in a week.

Yes, after this has cleared then I suspect there’ll be a good bounce back for sports - in the meantime more of these virtual solutions will keep popping up. Head down and weather the storm!

Traffic should be up significantly for everyone due to COVID-19. Most are working from home or even unemployed and physical casinos are closed. If your traffic is down it sounds like you need to invest heavily in smart SEO.

Traffic is definitely up for us and what is gamechanger, due to stay at home, is that people have more time to read, they browse more content, they are more engaged on social media

There’s clearly a divide between non-sport and sports affiliates at present, good on you guys who are doing well at present. Hoping sports will bounce back nicely as everything slowly starts up again.

Traffic and revenue were up in April nicely (+28%) and March as well. I figured traffic would be up with everyone staying home and browsing the Internet but I did not expect such an increase in revenue with so many people out of jobs and so much uncertainty out there. I am happy I was wrong.

It is unfortunate for the sports sites but it cant last forever. When sports are back watch out! People will be ready to go!
