I decided it would be interesting to compare traffic for the first three weeks of April (April 1-21) this year with last year as a measure of how the coronavirus pandemic was influencing site traffic. This is pretty easy in google analytics. Just select April 1, 2020 to April 21, 2020 as the time period, and say you want to compare that to the previous year.
For the GPWA pageviews increased 26.68%, unique pageviews increased 25.03%, average time on page increased 2.65%, and average bounce rate decreased 3.39%. All the sorts of changes I like to see. And that is pretty much consistent with my observations that there is more activity in the forum as well.
I encourage you to view your site statistics for the first three weeks of April tool, and to both vote in the poll, and share more specific numbers here, along with your view of the reason why. Maybe you think the change is due to the pandemic, or maybe you think it is due to entirely different reasons.
I also did a comparison of January 2020 to January 2019, and the numbers were very close to one another, supporting my view that the increased level traffic in the forums in April is indeed a consequence of the pandemic.
