It is becoming an important metric for the search engines. If nobody is chatting about your site or brand in social media it is like you don't exist or are not relevant.

I don't really think that's true for gambling sites. You really have to be creative or add great value as a gambling site on social media channels.

I`d say, it is very important. In Russia, every adult man now is registered on odnoklassniki.ru or vk.com (FB clons). None of another sites have so powerful abilities..

I have to concur with Paul on this one, gambling sites have a very hard time getting any decent traction from social media. However, a number of SEO agencies do specialize in Social Media SEO and they claim to have helped gambling sites achieve certain goals.

We have used Twitter mainly, and Facebook only recently - All with varying levels of sucess. However, so far it seems to be a case of if you can engage your followers etc, then your on to something.

In my opinion people will do a lot of things on social media if the incentive is big enough compared to their expected input (like, comment, tell friends/others)

If you believe that people might be embarrased by talking about gambling, then it will obviously need a bigger incentive.

As the Danish Affiliate Manager I obviously am in the lucky position to be working with the brands in a country where it is fully legal and the legislation is in place, so I think that influences peoples perception of gambling in a positive way. We're allowed to advertise on all advertising financed TV channels - and do at the moment, see the ad here if you'd like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6iAa5rUZxE&hd=1 - and a lot of advertising and focus on casino/poker/betting brands will IMO definitely have a positive influence on peoples perception of it.

Especially if it's a "well known" brand and not MrHobgoblins cavecasino or whatever

Obv. regarding Facebook there are other walls that needs to be conqured to oblige to the FB T&C for pages

I agree when saying that It can give you more traffic on social media such as facebook. I've used it on my website and maybe not some of it viewed it and buy my product. Social media is one of the most used nowadays in all people. Hope it can help you too for you traffic madness.
