Being a Affiliate Manager myself, I think its very important..its like directly talking to brand itself..once u interact more to the AM then he can understand your issues better and address them in a better way...

I used to think it was completely irrelevant. However, I have changed my mind. It is of considerable importance. Because of this, even sometimes you have to end cooperation and say goodbye to your players or, on the contrary, start it.

its very rare that an affiliate manager is working for long period, usually they come and go. But I think it is quiet important to always keep good relations , you never know when help will be needed...

It's interesting to see these results, and I wonder if they would be the same today, 10 years later. I voted for the middle option, 'somewhat valuable,' because it's the one that best aligns with my perspective. However, I would have liked to see at least two more options. I believe that the relationship with the affiliate manager isn't everything, but it's certainly more than that.

It's no surprise really that my most productive accounts are with the programs that I have the best relationship with, although that is probably a self-fulfilling prophecy to a large degree. Both sides will naturally put more effort into an account that's working well for both parties.

As to the descriptions in the original poll, I have joined and promoted programs in the past solely because I've been approached by an affiliate manager who's moved roles, although equally I've turned some down that didn't fit.

It hasn't happened yet, but if the opposite happened and an affiliate manager joined an existing program of mine from one which had ended badly previously, particularly if it were one of the high-profile programs who culled many affiliates like Sky, I'd have to seriously think twice about the relationship.

I think this is an excellent way to phrase that and guessing a portion of the reason many affiliate would agree.

I never terminate programs due to their account manager(s) but will mention the quality of the programs account management and recommend other programs that are more willing to cooperate and behave in a more professional manner.

Unfortunately, more programs are being called out for their lack of professionalism.

I closed an affiliate account 3 months ago because of the behavior of an affiliate manager. This person never responded to my emails, and when he did after several weeks, he was borderline insulting and contemptuous. I preferred to close everything rather than deal with him...

There have been times when the affiliate manager has changed and we can barely communicate.
The translation feature also didn't work well.
However, although affiliate managers are very important in participating in programs and negotiating, there are only a few people who actively support the program.
For beginners, this is a difficult problem.
