Portal webmasters typically own at least one domain name (unless they are employed by someone else in that role), and they may own quite a few. Maybe because they operate multiple sites, or maybe as part of a strategy of buying domain names for future resale to others.
Casino City owns a little over fifty gambling-related domain names. About ten of them have been developed into real sites, about ten are used as aliases for those sites, and the remainder were acquired for possible future development.
Knowing what domains can be worth today, I wish we had registered many more domain names in the early days. Ten or twelve years ago you could register a domain for $10 that could be sold for $50,000 or more today if you made the right choices. Then maybe I'd own thousands of domains today and be making a steady income just selling them.
How about you? How many gaming-related domain names do you own?
Michael
